Michelle “MJ” Boyle is a single mother of two kids. When they were ready to leave her nest and go off on their own, she decided that she would build a tiny house so that she would be able to have an affordable place to live.

Since had spent 13 years of her life as a single mom living paycheck to paycheck and didn’t have a retirement plan or any savings.

She wanted a house that no one could take away from her and found security in a tiny house.

“My life has been a series of unfortunate events,” Boyle explains in a video tour of her home. “I have been married twice, I had been divorced twice, I have built two houses and I lost the houses basically in the carnage of my divorces.”

Boyle used cash and sponsorships to pay for her entire home. She has also decided to build a few more tiny homes that she will rent out as a form of income. Boyle’s home, which she refers to as “My Empty Nest,” is 8 1/2 feet wide and 24 feet long.

She built it mostly by herself with the help of a few contractors and friends in the driveway of her rental.

“My favorite room in my tiny house is my kitchen,” she explains. “I think a lot of people sacrifice in their kitchen when they build a tiny house but I wanted to show everybody that you can have a really cool and stylish kitchen.”

Her kitchen has a tall refrigerator, cabinet and drawer space, stove sink and countertop space.

There’s also a tiny living room with some sitting space that can accommodate a table and has a credenza. Her bathroom has a compost toilet and shower.

Her living room also holds her staircase which leads up to her large loft bedroom.

Her stairs are the one thing in her home that wishes she would have done differently. She wishes that she would have made them a little bit wide as she didn’t account for the width of her rear end.

The steps lead up to her bedroom while a ladder is used to reach the adjacent loft space which serves as a guest bedroom.

What’s most special about Boyle’s home is the darling way she decorated. It’s absolutely adorable. You can get the full tour of Boyle’s home in the video below.
