Cleaning Your Cabinets
To get your cabinets looking like new, mix 1 part vegetable oil with 2 parts baking soda in a bowl. Then, scrub down the cabinets with the mixture using an old toothbrush. This should help refresh the look of the cabinet while removing any grime from the cabinet surface.
Removing Hard Water Stains
Make removing hard water stains easy by using a paste made up of 1 teaspoon of vinegar and 2 tablespoons of salt. Apply to any fixtures that have hard water stains using a clean cloth, and rub the mixture in. Clean up any leftover residue using the same cloth.
Cleaning Your Windows
Clean the windows in your apartment using newspaper. Unlike a cloth or paper towel, newspaper absorbs liquids better and doesn’t leave any streaks or lint behind. Be careful when using newspaper around vinyl because the ink on the newspaper can leave marks. The ink of the newspaper will also get on your hands.
Removing Burnt-on Food From Your Stovetop
To remove food burnt onto the surface of a glass-top stove, use a razor blade. The razor is great for scraping up any leftover residue. Follow the scraping up with a clean, damp cloth or paper towel to wipe away any leftover particles.
Cleaning Your Deck
To help loosen caked-on dirt while sweeping your deck, attach a hose to a push broom. Once the dirt is loosened, use the broom to sweep it away. The water from the hose has the double benefit of rinsing off the deck while sweeping.
Clearing a Clogged Drain
To clear a clogged drain, pour a mixture of ½ cup of baking soda and ½ cup of white vinegar down the drain, and then cover it with a drain cover. Wait 15 to 20 minutes before pouring 6 to 8 cups of boiling water down the drain to wash the baking soda and vinegar mixture down the pipes.

To clean a microwave, place a mixture of equal parts white vinegar and water in a microwave-safe bowl inside of the microwave. Heat the mixture for a few minutes. Carefully remove the bowl, and use paper towels to wipe the inside of the microwave.
Removing Scuff Marks
To clean up scuff marks from linoleum, use toothpastes and a dry, clean cloth. Just apply the toothpaste to the scuff mark, and scrub until all of the toothpaste residue is removed.
Cleaning Your Shower
To clean soap scum off of a shower door, wet down a new dryer sheet and scrub the door’s surface. It might take two or three sheets to get the whole door. Follow up by rinsing the door until all residue is gone.
