1) Ripen An Avocado
Stab your avocado with a fork about 10 minutes. Then toss it in the microwave in 30-second intervals. Take it out when it’s soft. It will ripen it but the avocado will lose some of its flavors, so it best to use this method when you’re making stuff like guacamole that you will season anyway.
2) Make Rice, Quinoa, and Millet Tastier
Quiona, rice, millet, and bulgur can taste a little plain. You can enhance its flavor by cooking it in tea-infused water. Smoky black tea, Earl Grey, and chai are best for this.
3) Preheat the Oven Fast
No one likes waiting for the oven to preheat. You can speed up the process by turning your oven to the highest broil setting for 3 to 5 minutes. Then set to your desired temperature to cut down the preheat time by 50 percent or more.
4) Keep Fruit From Browning
Mix one part honey and two parts water. Pour some of this mixture on to your cut fruit. The honey contains citric acid and vitamin C that slows the oxidation process.
5) Easily Peel Baked Potatoes
Boil your potatoes. When you’re finished place them in an ice bath for 3 to 5 minutes. The potato skin should slide right off if you twist the potato in your hand.
6) Put Cling Wrap in the Fridge
Put your plastic wrap in the refrigerator. This will keep it from sticking to itself. Just wet the edges of your container before you apply it.
7) Get Rid of Egg Shell Pieces
Stop using a clean spoon to fish out pieces of eggshell. Use the bottom of your cracked eggshell to remove shell fragments from your frying pan. The shell will easily scoop it up and you won’t have to dirty a clean utensil.
8) Perfectly Hard Boiled Egg
Gently boil a pot of water. Prick the top of an egg with a thumbtack on the larger side of an egg. This will release the pressure inside the egg so the shell won’t crack.
9) Don’t Burn the Onions or Garlic
You can save onions and garlic before begin to burn. If they start browning too quickly when you are sautéing, just toss in an ice cube. The water will quickly evaporate and cool down everything in the pan.
10) Easily Grate Cheese
Grating cheese can make such a mess. Toss your soft cheeses into the freezer for 30 minutes before you grate them. This will prevent them from crumbling.
11) The Crispiest Chicken Skin
Do you like your chicken skin crispy? You can get your chicken skin super crispy by putting a hair dryer over it. Use it to remove all of the moisture from the skin before you cook it.
12) Make Speedy Meatloaf
Cooking a meatloaf can take more than an hour. You can divide it up to make it cook faster. Portion them up and put them into muffin tins and bake at 450 degrees for 15 minutes.
13) Use a Shoe Horn
A clean unused shoehorn can work wonders in the kitchen. Use it to scrape the wide end along a cob of corn to remove the kernels. You can also use the narrow end to pop muffins out of a tin.
14) Open a Hard Coconut
Drill a hole in your coconut and drain the water. Put it in the oven for 10 to 15 minutes at 400º F. The shell should crack and separate from the meat.
15) Prevent Mixer Splatter
Cut two holes in a paper plate. Push your mixer blades through the two holes and use it as a lid. This will prevent splatter.
