Do you like it when your home is tidy, clean, and organized? When everything has its place? It’s a pretty amazing feeling, right? They say a decluttered home is a decluttered mind – so it makes sense that when things are organized, we feel a sense of accomplishment.
But, what if you despise cleaning and organizing? Tackling that hall closet or junk drawer can seem like a daunting task that stresses you out just thinking about it. We understand people like you too!
Here are 20 incredibly awesome and easy ways to have your home crazy organized with little effort.
Whether you love or hate cleaning and organizing – these tips will make your life so much easier.
1. Use a tissue box to store plastic bags
After unloading our groceries, many of us stash our empty plastic bags under the sink or in a drawer, but often times they become a jumbled mess with them strewn about with no rhyme or reason. Keep them organized by using Command strips to attach an empty tissue box to the inside of your cabinet.
Not only are the plastic bags no longer taking space in that cabinet or drawer, but now they’re super easy to grab when you need them! Polished Habitat came up with this brilliant idea.
2. Use silverware holders in your bathroom
Sure, it’s a ‘silverware holder/organizer,’ but who says this handy product needs to be limited to our kitchens? Use a silverware holder to keep things organized in your bathroom, like your toothbrushes, toothpaste, and floss in this example. Plus, kids love it because now they have their ‘very own spot.’
3. Add S-hooks for extra storage
When you have wire shelving in your closet or laundry room, you might think that your space for storage is limited, but think again! You just have to get a little creative. Head to your local hardware store and pick up a few S-hooks to slip over those wire racks.
Use them to hang things with a string or hole on the handle. Clever, right? Family Handyman came up with this clever tip.
4. Hide electronics and cable cords in your nightstand
This fun home organization hack comes from Reddit and it’s simply genius. To keep electronics and cables hidden and off your nightstand, hide them inside the drawer instead. Place a power strip in the top drawer and pull the plug-in cord through the back. Now, your phones and tablets are out of sight, out of mind while you sleep.
5. Help your kids pick out their clothes
“Fill labeled drawers with each day’s clothes so that they can dress themselves in the morning without ending up in a completely inappropriate outfit,” Buzzfeed says. This is a great way to teach kids organization and responsibility all at the same time – brilliant!
6. Make pretty pen and pencil holders
Keep your home office or craft area a bit more organized with this handy tip from Red Ted Art. Have you ever heard of Washi tape? If not, get ready to fall in love with your new favorite craft supply. It’s a self-adhesive tape (like cello tape) with really pretty patterns.
All you’ll need for this easy organization project is a clean, empty mason jar and some Washi tape. Head to Red Ted Art for the full tutorial.

11. Keep a basket near your bed for throw pillows
Having lots of throw pillows are your bed is an absolutely beautiful way to decorate your bedroom, but when you go to sleep, they probably end up strewn about your floor, right? Keep your room clean (even while you sleep!) by placing a big basket at the foot of your bed to neatly place your throw pillows. This one is available through Pottery Barn.
12. Use candy jars to store kids’ craft supplies
Instead of “out of sight, out of mind,” why not “in sight, in mind”? Raising Lemons says that keeping things like crayons, markers, and chalk in view for children will encourage them to use them more. Pretty great, right? Using empty candy jars to store art supplies for kids is a cute way to display them.
13. Place a big corkboard over your desk
Pin notes, save coupons and display pictures on an oversized cork board. You could even spruce it up by wrapping it in your favorite fabric. Sincerely, Sara D. has the step-by-step instructions on how to create your own fabric bulletin board.

16. Create an ‘eat me first’ bin to reduce food waste
Do you notice that you’re tossing out food because it got pushed to the back of the fridge and forgotten? Label a bin in your refrigerator as ‘eat me first’ so that you and your family know which snacks to grab. This will help reduce waste and let you know what you might be overbuying. Ms. Simplicity found that this works great in her home.
17. Use under-the-bed organizers for pots and pan storage
Although these bins take up space, they will help keep things organized. Especially things like pots, pans, and appliances – kitchen supplies that tend to become cluttered and disorganized easily. You can add labels for extra organization.
18. Use a wine rack to hold hairstyling tools
Keep curling irons and straighteners organized and at arm’s reach by using a cute wine bottle holder. Head to your local thrift store to find a wine rack for under $10.
