The secret lives of celebrities aren’t always that secret. For the uber-famous among us, doing anything “privately” is rather hard. There is always someone around with a camera ready to snap a photo.
For many celebs, that fame isn’t something they want to bring into their kids’ lives. As a result, many kids are kept hidden (or at least distanced) from the paparazzi to preserve their privacy, and maybe their sanity.
For others, having a baby with a mistress is another reason to keep things on the DL! It happens quite a bit in the celebrity world and understandably, they don’t want many people to know about it!
Here are some celebrities that have had “secret” kids, many of which are of the “secret from their current partner too” variety:
1. Chris Brown
Brown has had an on and off again relationship with Karrueche Tran for a while now.
That was until it was revealed that Brown had a child with a woman named Nia. It didn’t last long after that.
2. Eddie Murphy
Murphy had a rather rough breakup back when he ended things with Mel B. He even went so far as his refusal to admit Angel, Mel’s daughter, was his own. After a DNA test, it was found out to be true – he was in fact the father.
Nice try.
3. Hugh Grant
Grant must have set a record when he ended up having three kids with two different women over the course of 15 months. At one point the two women were literally pregnant at the same time. Two of his kids were with Tinglan Hong and the other was with a Swedish TV producer named Anna Eberstein.
It was later found out that Ebersteins baby was Grant’s and he was added to the birth certificate nearly a year later.
4. Simon Cowell
The famous American Idol spit-roaster of a judge has had his own slips, just not vocally.
He announced that a baby, born to his best friend’s wife back in 2013, was actually his. Unsurprisingly, that couple divorced.
5. Gavin Rossdale
Rossdale had a goddaughter named Daisy Lowe… until he took a DNA test in 2004 that showed he wasn’t just the godfather, he was the ACTUAL father.
He was married to Bronner Handwerger at the time but was also in a 5-year-long side relationship with Pearl Lowe at the same time.
Finding out about a secret love child didn’t do Rossdale any favors with his then-wife Gwen Stefani either.
6. Chuck Norris
Norris’ situation is a bit interesting. He had a child out of wedlock and didn’t know until she was 26-years-old!
She wrote him a letter, leading to him eventually finding out.
7. Steven Tyler
Tyler is rather well known for his… escapades. Years ago he had a daughter with a groupie for Aerosmith named Bebe Buell.
Eventually, the little girl would grow up to be Liv Tyler, a famous individual herself!
8. Arnold Schwarzenegger
The former Gov of California has already admitted that he had an affair with a member of his household staff back in 2010.
When the news broke, he and his wife separated after 25 years together. There was just no denying the resemblance between the housekeeper’s son and Schwarzenegger.
9. Dwayne Wade
Wade actually invented a new term when he had a kid with Aja Metoyer. Wade and his girlfriend, Gabrielle Union, were on “break” when he got with Metoyer. Wade and Union got back together and announced their engagement… right as Metoyer announced she was pregnant.
Enter, the “break baby.”
10. Charlie Heaton
Heaton, a star from the show Stranger Things, announced that he had a son with his ex, Akiko Matsuura. They had the child when they were in a band together back in 2010.
11. John Edwards
Edwards was well on his way to being the primary presidential candidate for the Democratic Party back in 2008. That was until news of his affair with a staff member from his campaign broke.
The worse part? All this was going on while his wife was suffering from cancer.
It was finally released in 2010 that he didn’t just have an affair, he had a child. His wife also passed away soon after.
12. Jesse Jackson
Jackson, a political rights activist, had an affair with a staff member from his own campaign, similar to John Edwards. He didn’t admit he had a child until later, either.
Still, he and his wife of 38 years were able to stay together through it.
13. Matthew Knowles
Probably more famous as Beyonce’s dad now, Knowles has a few secret kids. Two, as a matter of fact. His first kid, a little boy, came from a relationship with Scrubs actor Alexsandra Wright (he was also married to Tina Knowles during their affair).
Later on, he ended up having another child with TaQoya Branscomb, where he denied it until a DNA test showed otherwise.
14. Tom Jones
Jones had a secret relationship with Katherine Berkery back in the 80s, eventually resulting in a kid being born.
Jones refused to acknowledge the child as his own until a handy-dandy paternity test once again saved the day. To this day he refuses to have contact with his son.
15. Eric Clapton
Clapton was married to Patti Boyd when he had a rendezvous with an Italian tv star named Lori Del Santo. It was a tragic event all around, with the affair ending Clapton’s marriage and his son falling out of a window and dying in 1991.
16. Clark Gable
Gable had an affair WAY back in 1935 with his co-star Loretta Young from Call of the Wild.
Gable was still married to Maria Langham at the time and news of the child didn’t come out until a biography was released about Young posthumously.
17. Ludacris
Ludacris has an interesting story behind his affair and the resulting child. He was granted custody of the baby in 2015 after a legal battle.
Another “break baby” like Wade, he was separated from his girlfriend, Eudoxie, when he hooked up with Tamika Fuller.
Rumor has it that Ludacris tried to get Fuller to have an abortion, but she refused. Additionally, Ludacris’s marriage to Eudoxie was rumored to have been a strategic move to get custody of the baby.
18. 50 Cent
50 Cent had a son that he refused to acknowledge until he was forced to by news coverage.
TMZ found court papers from 2013 that showed he and Daphne Joy had a child together. The little boy was his youngest, Sire.
19. Sean Combs
Diddy was seriously getting around back in 2007. He was expecting twins with Kim Porter, his girlfriend, when it was discovered that he was also expecting a kid with Sarah Chapman.
Porter and Combs ended things after Chapman gave birth 5 months before his own twins were born.
20. Lil Wayne
Lil Wayne has four kids with four different women. His youngest kids were with Lauren London and Nivea… although they were born only two months apart.
We now know WAY more about celebrity affairs than we probably need to (or want to). Still, it’s crazy to know that so many people have SO many secret babies, especially since all of them were men. I guess it’s hard for a woman to hide the fact that she’s having a baby, huh. Guys have it so easy.
