Home restorations are extremely common. People decide they need more room or they want to reconfigure the space that already exists. Regardless of the project, this type of work is a labor of love.
For one couple, their love for restoration was massive. After all, they weren’t going to update an ordinary home. Instead, their focus was on a mini-castle that was 250 years old.
A unique castle
Throughout Europe, you can find all types of castles. Usually, people think of grandeur structures with 30 bedrooms. But in this case, we’re talking about a completely different kind of castle … a miniature one.
Why this particular castle?
The woman, whose parents live in the same area where the mini-castle sits explained that as a child, she used to pass it all the time. She found it charming yet in complete disrepair.
Falling apart
From the outside, it’s easy to see that this mini-castle was in horrible condition. Not only did this couple find that it had “good bones,” but it was also a magical place. As they walked through the structure, they both shared a special love for the place.
They had a plan
Although they spent a pretty penny for the mini-castle, to them, it was worth it. They had a plan to turn it back into the grand mini-castle it once was. So, they now needed to get to work to achieve their goal.
Gorgeous countryside
The purchase of the castle was made even better thanks to all the gorgeous countryside that surrounded it. But for the couple to get permission to do any restoration, they had to agree they wouldn’t add anything to the original structure. That meant they had their work cut out for them.
A finished project
After spending 15 months working on the mini-castle, the results surpassed everyone’s expectations. What was once a run-down building had turned into a beautiful place this couple could call home. They did a fantastic job.
It’s grand again
Just as it was in its prime, this mini-castle is once again grand. It’s hard to believe it’s even the same place. And surrounded by trees and fields of green grass, it’s peaceful and calming.
Major changes
The couple used limestone mortar to repair the once damaged exterior of the castle. They added new windows to let natural sunlight inside while giving them spectacular views. Then, there’s the huge staircase leading to the interior of the home.
Cozy and inviting
The interior of the mini-castle is just as impressive as the outside, if not more. This couple paid attention to every detail to make the place a home. Every room has been beautifully restored and designed to fit their specific taste.
Everything they wanted and more
While watching the video about the restoration of this castle, you can’t help but feel a little jealous. The interior has plenty of room and it’s all so amazing. Who wouldn’t want to call this place home?
