I've always loved this antique look on glass but I didn't know it's this easy to replicate.

Decorating your home with a design that reflects your preference and personality can be fun – if only it doesn’t cost you an arm and a leg, and your entire bank account nowadays.

But interior decorating doesn’t always have to break the bank.

Luckily for us, there are content creators who dedicated their time to looking for cheaper and more creative ways of interior designing.

Do It on a Dime is a popular YouTube channel in the crafts world.

Kathryn, the face behind the channel, wanted to help people build their dream spaces even with a frugal budget.

The channel has millions of subscribers across different social media platforms.

Kathryn said on her website she recognizes the fact that “life isn’t Pinterest-perfect” so she provides content that’s realistic, relatable, and practical.

In this video, she made a Pottery Barn item for a tenth of the retail price.

So, how can you cheat a Pottery Barn look but with Dollar Tree items? Let’s find out! First, Kathryn checked the catalog to see the peg her friends were aiming for.

One of their bestsellers is the Markle Antique 4×4 glass panel mirror.

The beautiful piece features 16 glass panels that are faded and stained, perfect for that rustic look.

The whole piece will set you back $699 for the largest size. You know, the size everyone’s going to want?

Let’s be honest, that price will blow a hole in your pocket.

Kathryn’s solution is to buy mirror panels from Amazon. They come in different sizes and in rectangles or squares.

Next, she got some silver and metallic gold spray paint.

First, lay down your mirror on a large tarp or drop cloth.

Then, spritz the mirror with water using a spray bottle. The droplets should be of varying sizes – from big droplets to mists.

Next, spray a coat of silver paint. For that faded antique look, try to spray more paint on the edges of the mirrors and less at the center.

Buff the glass afterward to take off the excess paint.

You can also do this with picture frame glass.

Get a can of Krylon Looking Glass silver and spray it over a panel of clear glass.

Next, using a 1:1 mixture of vinegar and water, coat the surface that you painted. Immediately dab the moisture.

Do this one more time after the first coat dries. Once that dries, coat the surface with black spray paint. Now you have an antique mirror!

People love the idea of a DIY antique mirror set.

In total, the large mirror fixture costs about $60-70, depending on the availability of some of the items at home.

The final product is as charming and as rustic, minus the probability of the antique piece being haunted, of course.
