Home hacks are a great way to fix common issues that otherwise seem like a very expensive endeavor. There’s a multitude of things one can do to fix their own problems without constantly having to consume supplies and materials from a general store.
Luckily, some people would rather use their creativity rather than their wallet when solving these cases. These 37 home hacks proved to be a little odd at first, but regardless, they were more than effective in getting the job done.
1) Phone-y Fix
This granny encountered a problem we’ve all faced in modern society: her phone made contact with water. She used a container of white rice to act as a sponge to absorb as much moisture as possible. Since it proved to be a lifesaver, granny bought over 1 kilo of rice to make sure she has a backup the next time something like this should happen again.
2) Keyboard Wrapper
A young man decided to purchase a keyboard and decided to put an insurance policy on it. By that we mean he had to devise a way to protect it since he couldn’t find an appropriate plastic bag. The result was a combination of two Ziploc bags and was able to piece it together to encase his keyboard. Not bad for a little DIY project!

Ever struggled reading paperback books when turning the page? One moment you’re on chapter 3 and the next you lose your grip and end up back in the prologue. With this nifty book holder you can hold your book in a way that you can continue reading without interruptions.

Now, this is a cool trick! Putting a “+spam” at the end of your email will revert all received messages from that sender directly to your spam folder. Since we live in a PC world, rejections no longer have to leave a sour taste on anyone’s mouth.

Headshot pictures are an invaluable part of the application process. It could be the difference between getting rejected or getting hired. Luckily for this lad, he made sure to use all his resources to his advantage.
9) Cover Your Book When You Read
This book was duct-taped to death for the simple reason of remaining incognito during church sermons. The gramps who created this stated he would duct tape his books in order to look as if he was reading from the Bible. Don’t try this at home unless you want a good scolding from your pastor because you tried to cut corners!
10) Safe and Sound
No matter the project, make sure you keep count of your loose nuts and bolts. They can easily be lost in the midst of you shuffling things around if you have nowhere safe to put them. Keep a styrofoam block close so that way you can just plunge those itty bitty nails on it and prevent them from getting lost again.
11) Man Meets Measurement
Trying to measure something but don’t have a ruler around? You can place your thumb against a ruler and mark a quarter of an inch on your nail. This way, you can safely measure any object using your finger!
12) Bubble Bath Bonanza
After a long day at work, all you want to do is evaporate in a tub of hot, bubbly-rich water. This young lady didn’t have one in her bathroom, so she decided to make one using a plastic container. Yeap, you read that right! Even though she may not fit nicely, props for making it work and motivating others to follow suit after a long day at the office.
13) Marking Territory
Some animals use their bodily fluids to mark comfortable places for territorial reasons, while humans mark places to gain a sense of direction. Neither applied with this wholesome gesture of a complete stranger who laid out wooden sticks to indicate the location of car keys. The owner of the car misplaced her keys and luckily had a stranger leave a mark on the ground to indicate the key’s location. That’s what we call using your environment effectively!

Coffee is the average adult’s wake-up ritual. It satisfies and reinvigorates like no other and it certainly hits the spot when everything seems so slow and monotonous at times. The styrofoam cup is used to indicate when the coffee will be ready since it appears there’s no other way to indicate when it is. Gotta appreciate a little creativity to help people out when they most need it.
15) Organizing the Organizer
Drawers help us organize our miscellaneous junk in a very useful way. However, what if we forget which drawer we stored things in? This grandpa crafted a drawer with tool attachments to label each one for ease of usage.

Sometimes old clothing shouldn’t be tossed away so easily. This grampa decided to pour some bleach into a cup and dip the end of a paintbrush into the bleach to help design this shirt. Not a bad look considering the mess it was in the first place.

This optical illusion isn’t really windows with natural light. Instead, they are built-in with LED lights to give the appearance of real windows. It’s a good way to liven up your living space and add some much-needed lighting in dark space.

No surprise here. You can use your smartphone’s front camera as a mirror whenever you need to see into hard-to-reach places. This guy needed to know which cables to unplug, so he decided to use his camera to his advantage.

Now for your cats, you’ll have to come up with something slimmer to protect them from scratching. This lady decided to use her cup coaster to make a hole so her cat could fit in snug. It’s not a bad idea considering it fits comfortably and her cat doesn’t seem to mind one bit.

Sprinklers can be a cumbersome and expensive venture for most. This dad decided he was too classy for that and so devised a way for the water in his gutter to reach his garden. The rocks act as a buffer to regulate the flow of water so that it doesn’t tarnish the plants.

We’ve all had those annoying wooden splinters pricked right in our fingers. If you can’t find the tweezers anywhere, you can always use a set of three coins (pennies and nickels work best with their flat edges) to help you with your prickly woes. For those of you going three flights of stairs with groceries in hand, this one is for you. It’s an excellent gift for those who are elderly or not capable of carrying their bags through many difficult steps. Just be sure it is fastened tight as to not have it break on accident.

If you have a tough time knowing which one is Left and which one is Right, then this hack is perfect for you! We’ve all had those earbuds where we couldn’t tell which ear they go in. Luckily with a little bit of color coding, one could easily identify which is the correct one for each ear.
37) No Escape
This little rascal of a pooch decides to escape to his neighbor’s house every day. To solve this issue, mom put a hotdog outfit on him so that he can get wedged in between the doors and prevent him from escaping again. One day this little doggo will learn of his bad behavior and hopefully, he’ll remember what it feels like to lick his own belly.
