If you have plans of painting a certain section of the house then these little tips and tricks will come in handy.
For first time DIYers, it may seem daunting at first but you’ll get the hang of it.
It really is no different from cooking or working on a car.
It just takes patience and practice.
1. Messy roller brush
Take your roller and disassemble the brush.
Grab a plastic bottle, punch a hole in the cap and stick it on the roller arm.
Measure the brush to match the length of the bottle then mark the spot to cut.
Be careful with that blade but go ahead and cut out the half of your bottle lengthwise then attach it to the roller’s arm, using the cap to screw it in place.
Stick the brush back on and now you have a protective shield that will catch the paint as you roll it on the wall.
2. Brush holder using foam
Paint can get messy, leaving marks everywhere even if you have a pan.
Get a foam rod or roller, measure it out to match the tip of your pan, then cut out a piece long enough to cover the pan’s edge.
Make another cut halfway down the middle, just enough that it can grip the edge of the pan.
Create small pockets using a cutter that can hold on to a paint brush.
As long as the brush sits on it, you’re fine.
The idea is to let the brush sit on the foam so it’ll drip excess paint back in the pan.
3. Wheels make for less mess
You will need a table vise grip, a power cutter, a drill, and a whole lot of patience.
It is hard to paint corners so just measure out the right sized hinge by cutting out a strip of metal, using the vise grip for support.
Then just hammer on the piece you cut, shaping out the corner hinge needed.
If you’ve got the tiny wheels and screws, then attach them to the corners of the brush you’ll be using.
Just be careful working with the power tools.
4. Tape for a cleaner edge
Open up that bucket of paint, grab a roll of tape and just tape over a part of the edge, creating an acute angle that will allow the paint to fall cleanly on the pan without marking the bucket’s edge.
5. Use a plastic bag for a clean pan
If cleaning the pan is a hassle, then grab a large plastic bag and wrap it over the pan.
Pour in the paint and do what you need to do, minus the headache of knowing you’ll have to clean up.
6. Power cleaning your brush
Use the grip to hold the brush as you cut the tip of the handle.
Use the drill to attach a screw on the end of the handle, which you can now use to hook it up to the same drill.
Dip the brush in a bucket and let the drill do the work.
Watch it spin all the paint and dirt away.
