Clothes irons are designed to let you easily remove wrinkles from your clothes using heat and steam. But what do you do when you don’t have access to an iron when you are traveling or moving? Luckily, you have other options to keep your clothes wrinkle-free even when you don’t have an iron around.

A hair straightening iron works wonders on hard-to-remove wrinkles and on shirt collars. Before using a hair straightener to remove wrinkles from your clothing, make sure to clean any hair and product from the iron’s surface. In addition, check the temperature setting of the straightener to make sure it is not too high.

You can use white vinegar to make a DIY wrinkle spray that is much less expensive than professional brands and is chemical-free. Start by mixing 1-part vinegar with 3-parts water in a spray bottle. Then, mist the wrinkled garment and allow it to air dry.

Another option is to use a clothes dryer. Simply spritz the items of clothing with water from a spray bottle and throw them into the dryer for about 15 minutes. The steam from the water should remove the wrinkles from the clothing. If you don’t have access to water but have some ice cubes, throw two ice cubes into the dryer along with your wrinkled clothing.

For a makeshift iron, use a heated pot from your kitchen. Fill the pot with water, and bring the water to a boil. Once boiling, pour the water out. Use the bottom of the pot to iron your clothing. Make sure the bottom of the pot is clean before using it, though.
