Few materials are more versatile than bamboo. In the bedroom, materials like cotton and linen have dominated for decades, but more recently, bamboo has been making a comeback as a natural, moisture-wicking, and comfortable alternative to traditional bedsheet materials.
Bamboo sheets are naturally hypoallergenic, are easier to keep clean and dry, and get softer the longer you use them. On top of that, bamboo is one of the fastest-growing plants in the world, making bamboo production extremely sustainable. For many, bamboo is the best material for luxury bedsheets.
Because of how popular they’ve become, it can be hard to find truly great bamboo sheets that give you breathability, comfort, and cost-value all in one package. We’ve tested the most popular bamboo sheet sets for 2024 to determine which ones are the absolute best.
We analyzed them according to a few categories:
- Material Quality
- Comfort
- Moisture Wicking
- Value
We were shocked by the differences across some of the most popular bamboo sheet brands, especially when it came to price. Here’s what we thought, plus which ones we would recommend.
This article was written in paid partnership with SBLY eCommerce Brands.
In our testing, the Dosase Luxury Bamboo Bed Sheets met or exceeded the performance of the others while offering the best value for your purchase. Simply put, the Dosaze felt like a luxury product, without the luxury pricing. Some of the sheets we tested were simply too expensive to feel reasonable for what the product offered. We didn’t feel that way at all with the Dosaze.
On top of that, we found the proprietary bamboo blend to offer fantastic moisture-wicking while also feeling soft and durable. We found the Cool-Poly material a great addition to the bamboo, combining the best of moisture-wicking (bamboo) with the best in cutting-edge technology (the Cool-Poly). Plus, Dosaze sheets are designed to get softer with each wash, so prolonged use would only make these sheets more comfortable.
We also loved the generous return policies offered by Dosaze, something we’ve noticed with a lot of their products. For the sheets, they’re offering:
- A 3-year warranty
- 60-night risk-free trial
- Free returns
If you want a set of luxury bamboo sheets that are reasonably priced, give them a try!
We were pleasantly surprised by Bamboo Bay! Overall, they were among the least expensive we tried, coming in at only a third of the price of luxury brands like Cozy Earth. In terms of value, we only found the Dosaze and Pure Bamboo to be on par or better for what you get.
Bamboo Bay is made of Viscose, a bamboo-derived cellulose fabric. That being said, the brand isn’t exactly clear about the complete makeup of their sheets and seems to use some language that could be tricky. For example, they say they “start” with 100% Viscose, but they don’t list the final product’s makeup, which could be quite deceiving.
Still, we found them to be extremely soft, and for the price, they were among the most reasonable sheets we tested. From the feel of things, it is undoubtedly a blend; we would just want more clarity on what that blend is as a customer.
We found ourselves between two options for our Luxury Pick, but finally, we decided that Simply Organic had to beat out Cozy Earth. It’s a pretty big deal.
Why? Well, first, let’s talk about price. Simply Organic is still expensive, around $200 for a Queen, but that’s still nearly $180 less than Cozy Earth. When it comes down to comparing the two, the differences are negligible. In fact, we might just think the Simply Organic sheets are softer and a bit thicker than Cozy Earth! This isn’t to say that either brand is bad, but if you are going to pay hundreds of dollars for a set of sheets, things need to be perfect.
Additionally, we found a few online sources that had used these sheets for over a year (something we don’t have the luxury of doing in our reviews for each set of sheets), and many complained about pilling from the Cozy Earth, only to then turn around and recommend Simply Organic as a more durable alternative. We can’t speak to this ourselves, but it’s probably worth some awareness.
Regarding value, it’s important to remember that you aren’t getting luxury sheets for the “value” they provide. They are going to rank lower numerically, at least in how we reviewed them. Still, if you aren’t particularly worried about costs, Simply Organic is a great set and still cheaper than Cozy Earth.
On the opposite end of Luxury, we have the Value category. As far as price, we were really impressed with Zen Bamboo and what you could get for less than $50. Overall, the sheets were soft, but there were some things that clearly differentiated it from the other options on the list.
As far as materials go, Amazon lists it as Rayon, which is a derivative of bamboo. That being said, the exact blend that they used to create the sheets is 40% rayon and 60% brushed microfiber. With how they feel to the touch, this is spot on. Generally, higher concentrations of bamboo (or derivatives) have a slicker, silkier feel. The Zen sheets did not have the same hand feel as the others and were clearly “fuzzier,” likely due to the microfiber.
This could result in a drastic reduction in moisture-wicking and even increase heat retention. If you want something with bamboo for super cheap, sure, these are fine, but be aware of what you are getting.
We were really close to giving the Pure Bamboo sheets either the Runner-Up or Value category, but it just barely missed out. It sits comfortably in the mid-range of everything we reviewed, which is what held it back from being in the Value category. Regardless, we thoroughly enjoyed this set, and more long-term testing could change our minds.
With a few of the other Amazon products we reviewed, we found it hard to identify exactly what the sheets are made of, but that wasn’t the case with Pure Bamboo. In the listing, they claim that they never blend their products with any other fabrics or fibers, which means that these are 100% Viscose, a bamboo derivative.
They were super soft and used a 300-thread count Sateen weave, helping them to feel silky while also resisting pilling.
Is Cosy House attempting to use a similar brand name to trick people into thinking they are Cozy Earth? Maybe. Regardless, they do offer a good product and a reasonable price. Our main issue with them is that they are only competitive when they have huge offers available.
The sheets are made with a Viscose and Poly blend, similar to a few others on our list. We don’t mind adding a bit of polyester into the blend because it helps it resist pilling and stay durable long-term. The drawback with their particular blend is that it feels a little more synthetic than the other blends, notably Dosaze’s. It isn’t a huge deal, but when you factor in that they are more expensive when they aren’t running some insane deal, it keeps us from highly recommending them.
Also, the website claims to have great return options but never clearly states them besides having a “100% Guarantee.”
The Company Store felt like it was trying to play in the luxury category but chickened out a little. It uses 70% rayon and 30% combed cotton; the only brand we tested that used those materials together. The result is noticeable to the touch. It has that silkiness that rayon has, but without the “slickness” that higher rayon percentages usually come with.
That being said, they do charge quite a lot for this blend. Without any special discounts, you can expect to pay around $200. At that price, we feel like you might as well get the 100% Viscose sheets from Simply Organic since it has that specific feel you can only get from bamboo sheets.
Let’s be clear; we really like the Cozy Earth sheets. But they were the most expensive sheets we tested by over 50%, and we don’t know if it’s all that worth it. To start, these sheets are made with 100% Viscose, just like a few of the others on our list. Of all of the 100% Viscose sheets, they are probably the thinnest and softest, but they don’t have any of that sheen that bamboo sheets are generally known for. We aren’t sure how they did this (maybe via a particular weave pattern?), but it was noticeable.
That thinness and softness, however, may come at a cost. Many online reviewers claim excessive pilling with these sheets, some after only two months. Sure, you can technically just buzz the pills off with a machine once or twice a year, but you don’t get a luxury product just to have to do that. They do offer a great warranty and will send new sheets, no questions asked, but that seems like a bit of a hassle.
In our opinion, if you want to blast money at luxury sheets, the Simply Organic sheets are plenty fine.
The Cariloha wasn’t our favorite set of sheets we tested. First, we ran into a ton of problems with ordering (they don’t let you have a separate shipping and billing address???). After getting it sorted (we canceled twice and just ordered from Amazon), we did receive it within two days. Unfortunately, we weren’t impressed.
They are named the “Resort Bamboo Bed Sheets,” and they most certainly felt like a hotel version of bamboo sheets. Overall, they felt thick, strange, and not nearly as silky or soft as many of the other versions we tested. Additionally, they were massive. When we tried to fit the pillowcases, we literally had 2 feet of material hanging off the side of the bed (see photo). The sheets themselves were also too big, to the point we were almost convinced there was a package mislabeled as Queen and was actually King.
At the pricepoint they were featured at, we were not overall impressed with our experience.
