Have you ever just wanted to sell your home and spend a life living on the open road?
One woman made her dream a reality and now goes wherever she wants in her converted camper van.
Most importantly, she designed the van herself to provide everything she needed.
At just 64 years old, Clare has changed her life completely, becoming what she likes to call a “gypsy,” going from a large home to a smaller van.
A Fiat Ducato Maxi, the van is usually used for commercial or other conversion purposes.
For Clare’s purpose, though, she made it into a home.
Like other conversion vans, the large size of the Fiat works great for what Clare needs.
One of the best parts is that Clare can also live completely off the grid.
To do this, she added some water tanks and solar panels so that she could get water and electricity.
In fact, Clare designed the whole van after doing a ton of online research.
Once she had an idea of what she wanted, she turned to Roaming Wild Campers to make her dream home a reality.
Now, she can go wherever she wants, whenever she wants, without having to worry about paying a mortgage.
Nicknamed the Mouse House, the camper van has a kitchen, bathroom/shower, sitting area, bedroom, and workstation where Clare, a photographer/artist, can work on her computer.
She can even pull out an awning outside and get some fresh air when she feels like it.
She also has an ample kitchen area, allowing her to easily prepare and cook her meals on her three-burner gas stove or in her small oven.
The van has plenty of storage space to hold all the essential items to make a functional home.
And to make it even easier to go when needed.
The van has a doorway that allows Clare easy access to the vehicle’s cab, so if she needs to leave in a hurry, she can climb up front and drive away.
This is a feature that Clare recommends for anyone, but especially for women living on their own.
The dual toilet and shower are hidden under a counter next to the kitchen, and she has a track in the ceiling for when she wants to take a quick shower.
Further back is the sleeping area with a single bed and a skylight to look at the stars as she lays in bed at night.
The camper van provides Clare with all of the comforts of home and gives her the freedom she seeks.
