Sometimes when something works, it works. There are also practices that have been done in the past, such as blood-letting via the use of leeches, which are probably best left in the past. However, one concoction may just be exactly what you are looking for if you are allergic to antibiotics and or just seeking a natural means of boosting your immune system or naturally flushing out sicknesses!
Now, I can’t guarantee you that the tonic we are discussing today will taste amazing (gives me the vibe of drinking pickle juice, which some people adore!), but I can tell you that it is a concoction of many of the most anti-viral, probiotic, anti-fungal, and immune boosting natural foods out there!
Essentially, a powerful, natural “anti-biotic” that you can take when you are feeling under the weather with even some of the more tough illnesses! If you dig around in the history books you may even find some hearty testimonials from people who used it to survive the bubonic plague!
Apple cider vinegar lays the foundation!
Apple cider vinegar “lays the foundation” so to speak as it actually is able to alkalize our body, bringing us closer to a neutral pH, in consideration of all the acidic foods we tend to consume on a daily basis. Alkalinity is important in order for the body to focus on other issues than neutralizing the excess acid from our diets.
Garlic packs a punch!
I love garlic, and for good reason! Garlic is a superfood in regards to the task at hand, immune boosting, as in one large study with garlic supplements determined that it reduced the number of common colds by 63% as compared to the placebo. With the average length of symptoms reduced by 70%.
It also has anti-fungal and anti-viral effects when applied topically!
Turmeric and ginger are anti-inflammatory, while horseradish will open your sinuses!
Inflammation can be a good thing, but can get out of hand when we are experiencing illness, enter the compound in turmeric curcumin which has also been linked to anti-cancer activity as well as anti-inflammation!
Horseradish, ginger, and the peppers all help open your bronchial tubes and sinuses improving overall health and many of the symptoms of common ailments!
“Master Tonic”
Ingredients:
- 24 oz /700 ml apple cider vinegar (always use organic)
- ¼ cup finely chopped garlic
- ¼ cup finely chopped onion
- 2 fresh peppers, the hottest you can find (be careful with the cleaning – wear gloves!!!)
- ¼ cup grated ginger
- 2 tbsp grated horseradish
- 2 tbsp turmeric powder or 2 pieces of turmeric root
Directions:
- Combine all your ingredients except the vinegar, In a mason Jar, filling it up about 2/3rds of the way and mix so that its incorporate.
- Fill the rest of the jar up with the vinegar!
- Close well and shake (this step also doubles as a short workout routine!)
- Store the jar in a cool and dry place, like a cupboard, and over the course of 14 days make sure to shake it again a couple times each day!
- After 14 days you can strain the mixture with a plastic strainer or, for a finer strain through a gauze as well, to collect your tonic!
- The rest of the mixture that is solids, can be used in various cooking you might do, or I might just try it on a sandwich as the composition isn’t that far off of a New Orleans style muffalatta, sans green olives!
Note: Be careful in handling the hot peppers that you either protect your hands or thoroughly wash them after handling before touching your face or eyes!
So take a page from the dark ages and times of old, and give this recipe a go! The idea is to only drink perhaps a sip of the tonic, and to slowly build up over time to about a glass a day till symptoms cease. It’s a completely natural and safe form of “medicine” as its nutrition! It’s just the peppers and such that will irritate your bowels and cause vomiting if you consume too much too fast until you build up resistance!
