Would you believe that an ambulance can be turned into a mobile home?
We wouldn’t have believed it until today. This lovely couple bought an old ambulance and turned it into their mobile home.
It turns out it is a wise choice since an ambulance itself has lots of storage and enough batteries to power it.
Chris and Michelle introduced their ‘campulance’ named Tanya.
It’s their camping home where they love to stay and travel during the winter season.
They didn’t initially plan on making the ambulance a tiny house but thought it was a good idea because of its build. So, they gave it a go, and now it’s a beautiful home with lots of amenities you’d never expect from tiny homes.
Their tiny home doesn’t feel small at all.
In fact, it has a queen-sized bed and an oven in the kitchen.
They mounted their bed a bit higher to allow more storage space at the back which can also be accessible in their ‘garage.’
They have a Dometic chest fridge, with one part for a freezer and another for a fridge.
They also have a beautiful kitchen with a three-burner stove and oven.
This is powered by propane gas like most of their home’s heating system. They also installed an exhaust fan above the stove that vents out any smoke from cooking.
What makes their kitchen lovelier is the quarter-inch pine countertop that they sanded and stained, so it’ll be easier to clean.
Another feature that you don’t often see in tiny mobile homes is a shower.
With so little space, the couple was able to accommodate some shower space by using an angled sliding door. They have a cassette toilet which can be removed if it’s not used or needs to be emptied.
One advantage that Chris and Michelle love about the ambulance is storage space.
They couldn’t imagine how much help the ambulance’s default storage features had on their tiny living. They removed some parts that they didn’t need but retained those that helped them stow away their games, gadgets, and more.
They also used extra space in corners of the ambulance as their closet.
All they needed was a single bookshelf with some elastics to keep their clothes in place. Across it is where they hang their jackets with their boots and shoes below.
The couple equipped their tiny home with a lot of cool stuff, too.
They have a lot of dimmable lights, a switch for their stereo system, which allows them to play music indoors, outdoors, or both, and a thermostat attached to their heating system to set the temperature of their water.
With all that storage space, they have enough room to carry a collapsible hot tub.
It’s made of three-quarter-inch plywood with wooden trailer brackets on the corner, so it all snaps apart.
They place a blue tarp liner inside, fill it with water, and use an M67 Immersion Heater. It’s a military surplus heater that uses gasoline to heat the water inside for hours.
With all that space (plus a hot tub), their tiny mobile home doesn’t feel so tiny at all.
