What is your ideal getaway?
Imagine staying at a classy tiny house surrounded by lush greenery while being away from the loud noises and the pollution of the city.
Sounds dreamy, doesn’t it?
Wait until you see this “cabin”.
If you’re in New Zealand or if you’re planning to visit soon, then we’ve got the perfect getaway for you and your family.
Bryce of Living Big In A Tiny House felt so excited when he met Andrew in Punakaiki, New Zealand.
Andrew, along with a local architect and his brother, Mark, who was also an architect, worked together to build a tiny house in the middle of the West Coast.
It’s a jungle-beauty to behold.
Their collaboration enabled them to create this striking and aesthetic home that is unique and durable.
Their goal was a simple design.
A modern hut without spouting, curtains, or even gutters.
It is, however, a long drive to the city. So, you better stock up on your groceries if you’ll stay here.
Andrew first told Bryce about the aluminum that envelopes the entire house and even comes down the sides and down the walls.
The cabin is about 495 square feet.
It’s about 46 square meters, then there’s a mezzanine upstairs, which adds another six square meters.
As you enter, you’ll notice the small entrance, but then, you’d be in awe as you see the inside of the house.
It’s big and spacious.
It boasts two big sliding windows on both sides. The steep angle of the roof adds to the height and the two triangle windows above.
There’s a skylight above the mezzanine too.
Bryce noticed the polished concrete floor.
These were set off by the beautiful solid timber walls.
Andrew said that their design is to have a bare minimum home with style and functionality.
The orange couch and colorful carpet add personality to the already beautiful living area.
There is also a black table and chairs where you can work while the windows are open.
Fresh air and sunlight abound.
This is a space to make you feel inspired.
As for the wall system, all the timbers used were CLT or cross-laminated timbers.
Of course, there’s enough insulation for the entire house.
The timber walls are around 30 cm thick and are low maintenance.
Aside from aesthetics, the aluminum walls prevent rust from the ocean spray.
He though of every detail.
Underneath the home are enough steel frames and concrete to make it safer since the house is situated in a limestone area.
Small accents around the house make it more stylish, such as the hanging family photos that are black and white.
Let’s not forget the big tear-drop chandelier.
The kitchen is all black with an electric kettle, toaster, and a deep sink.
Moving on to the bedroom, you’d appreciate the big bed, the sliding window with a stunning view, and the pull-out cabinet underneath.
Bryce felt excited as he entered the bathroom.
The bathroom was sleek and stylish with its dark tiles, big window, red ceiling, and a good size vanity.
Did we mention that this home has a full-size bathtub?
Bryce couldn’t help but ask Andrew, how much did they spend on this treasure?
Mark said it was about 600K.
But he also said that it was their investment.
This beautiful home was completed last year and Andrew, Mark, or their parents would come and stay in the house for a few days, but most of the time it’s empty.
It’s open to the public and you can rent it! Good news, right?
