Who doesn’t love a good house-flip?
Nowadays, it seems like there are more house renovation shows on the air than ever before. With shows like Fixer Upper, Property Brothers, Flip or Flop, and more, it’s hard to not get bitten by the renovation bug!
Not to mention, the shows are simply fascinating to watch. It’s unbelievable how some of these properties turn out!
While many of these shows air on cable networks like HGTV, more and more independent shows are popping up on platforms like YouTube.
For example, “Austin Flipsters” is a show uploaded on YouTube that follows two friends, Lauren and Lincoln, as they flip houses in Austin, Texas.
Their YouTube page states, “We cover all aspects of renovating and remodeling our flip houses including the design and investing concepts behind our projects.”
Additionally, the pair share what vendors and products they use on their renovations so viewers can purchase them themselves.
“We love what we do and want to share the journey with you.”
Recently, the friends flipped a house in Brownwood, Texas. Though Brownwood is located 2 1/2hours north of Austin, they couldn’t resist purchasing this particular house.
The reason being that they were able to buy the house for $5,000!
In fact, if they hadn’t bought the house, it was going to be demolished.
The downside was that the house was in very poor condition. Literally, from the ground up, it would take a complete overhaul to turn the house into a place where people could and would want to live.
If that doesn’t sound challenging enough, Lauren decided to design the house solely from materials from the local Home Depot.
But on paper, the house sounds great. It has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and is 1,100 square feet.
When Lincoln does a walkthrough of the house, it’s clear that someone had attempted to work on the house years ago.
There are old pop cans and housing materials left behind in the rooms.
The floors have holes in them and there are dirt piles throughout the rooms in the house.
Still, there are traces of a life left behind. One of the bedrooms has photos of cats pinned along its walls.
Needless to say, these two have their work cut out for them. But the two decide to keep the layout changes to the house to a minimum.
One of the changes is to add a hallway between the two bedrooms in the back of the house. Initially, in order to get to the bedroom in the back, one had to walk through the bedroom before it.
Who needs privacy, right?
The other change was to take some footage from the master bedroom to use as a laundry room instead.
Thanks to several workers from the area, Lauren and Lincoln are able to get the house complete in a month.
The transformation is definitely a sight to see!
Just from the outside alone, it looks like a completely different house. The house received new windows, a metal roof, a baby blue door with the interior of the porch’s roof to match.
The living room looks unrecognizable as it was once full of holes in the floor.
The kitchen went from an ugly green to a comfortable, everyday space where any meal can be enjoyed.
It’s a flip you have to see to believe! You can watch the full renovation below!
