Have you thought about your retirement plans yet? Where do you see yourself living for the rest of your life?
Despite coming from different countries and backgrounds, all we, as humans, want is to live happily.
The people you surround yourself with can impact your happiness dramatically. One group of friends decided to take a tip from the Golden Girls and are now living their best lives.
These seven best friends from China knew that they wanted to live together and came up with a brilliant plan.
If you’re a fan of the hit TV show ‘Friends,’ this story might just cause some best-friend-living envy. But instead of a funky New York City apartment, these friends bought an old, abandoned building and transformed it into a mansion!
The seven friends met while at work around twenty years ago and quickly connected to form an incredible bond. After years of laughs, cries, and experiences together, they halfway joked that they should all retire together someday.
What started out as a joke turned into a reality when the friends located an abandoned building on the property of their dreams.
At first glance of the property before the ladies got their hands on it – it basically looks haunted. But they took a leap of faith, purchased the building and property, then banded together to start renovating it. The building, located in Guangzhou, was purchased for a steal because the residents all thought of it as an eyesore.
After all was said and done, and lots of hard work, their mansion was finished.
In total, the mansion cost the friends $580,000 USD – that’s only $82,000 for each friend to own a portion of this villa!
Let’s take a look inside and see what it looks like now.
The home features floor-to-ceiling windows, lots of spacious communal areas, a tea pavilion, and a giant dining room where everyone can eat dinner together. Each friend has their own separate bedroom and they each have individual goals of learning a specific craft – one will specialize in cooking, another in herbal medicine, etc.
Right now, the women are only in their late 30s and are currently raising families, so they say they don’t plan on moving in for another 15-20 years.
However, they plan on hosting lots of weekends and celebrations there in the meantime.
“We’re all independent individuals but we can communicate and rely on each other at the same time,” Jin Du, one of the friends told Yitiao. “Ten years later our children would have all grown up. So we hope we can be together again in 10 years.”
The mansion is 7,535-square-feet and it’s situated in a quiet, quaint village just far enough away from the city.
There is a massive open kitchen and, of course, a swimming pool! The three-story mansion has views of rice paddies and lush greenery. Perfectly relaxing for that retirement lifestyle.
“We’ll cook, have barbecues in the fields, sing and collect food from the village.”
These ladies have definitely taken the term ‘friendship goals’ to the next level. With such incredible foresight, these best friends can spend the rest of the working days without having to worry about where they’ll live when they go gray.
