If you haven’t already noticed, we at Shareably love DIYs and tutorials that will help you add zest to your garden and home. Thus, we were all thrills when we came across this video tutorial for creating brilliant terrariums and garden gazing globes. In just four minutes, YouTuber Rachel Talbott presents us with these two awesome projects to do at home that take little time, materials, and effort.
Succulent Terrarium
Terrariums are convenient ways to indulge in gardening all while remaining in the comfort of your home. By placing numerous small plants together in a chic container, you can fashion a charming miniature garden that will add bursts of green to your walls. Try creating your own with this tutorial from Rachel Talbott’s YouTube channel.
Things you’ll need:
- clear container
- small rocks or pebbles
- rich, well-drained soil
- succulent plants of your choice
You can find these materials at your local nursery and crafts store.
First, add small rocks to the bottom of the container for drainage. Using light-colored rocks like the ones in the tutorial can create a nice contrast with the dark soil and the plants’ green pigments. Make sure you clean your container well to give your plants a healthy environment.
Next, place well-drained soil on top of the rocks. Be sure to use use soil of good quality or soil specifically for succulents. The proper soil will drain adequately and provide only the necessary supplements that succulent plants need.
You’re now ready to tuck your plants into the soil.
Display your new terrarium in any part of your home!
What’s great about succulents is that they’re desert plants, meaning they don’t require frequent watering or maintenance. Who knew such fascinating plants could be so easy to take care of?
Garden gazing globe
For some captivating garden decorations, try making these gazing globes that Rachel made with very few materials! The name “gazing globe” is no coincidence—all we want to do when we lay eyes on them is gaze at their mesmerizing design.
Things you’ll need:
- styrofoam balls
- paint
- foam brush
- hot glue gun and glue
- glass beads
Find these items at your local crafts store.
First, use a foam brush to add shimmering paint to a styrofoam ball. Rachel used a pearly eggshell color to add a softer touch to her globe.
Using a hot glue gun, carefully paste the glass beads onto the styrofoam ball.
Let the beads cool and admire your work of art. You won’t believe you made it yourself!
Use these as ornaments to place in your garden.
We hope you find these projects fulling and fun to make. Best of all, you can try them out in the company of your friends and relatives!
