Tiny living provides flexibility and financial freedom for some. But it also allows to some to live in a “tiny mansion.”

That’s exactly what Ron and Sue did when they built their “Shiny Tiny Mansion” in Ohio.

The best part about their home is that they built it with their own two hands and the help of Ron’s father and their nephew Braden. They also had some Amish folks come and help them with their steeply pitched roof.

It took six years to build the 450-square-feet home and $20,000 when they started in 2001. The front of the home has a beautiful view of a creek and plenty of trees that offer privacy from the road.

The tiny home also has the luxuries of a larger home like a front porch.

They also built steps and a door that leads right to the bathroom so that they can walk directly into the bathroom with dirty clothes and not get the rest of the house dirty.

The home also has a lovely rock garden.

Its front porch extends off the front of the house on the opposite side of the kitchen.

All the porch furniture is handcrafted for an artistic feel. The front of the home also has plenty of large windows.

This lets all the natural light in.

“We collected items over many years and used wood that we got at an auction and from tearing down old buildings. Ron designed and built the whole house like a piece of furniture–he is a furniture designer,” Sue said on Facebook.

Behind those windows is the living room.

The large windows and white ceiling help to make the room look larger.

You’ll also find homey touches throughout the area with handmade quilts and custom built shelving.

The home is filled with lots of bright colors.

They also have a large flat-screen TV.

The bathroom comes off of one the end of the living and the kitchen can be found off the other. A staircase off the side of that leads to the upstairs bedroom.

The home has a vintage feel with their fun custom decor. They use space well by storing their ironing board in the bathroom.

They have a fish theme in their bathroom to give it a whimsical feel.

One thing they didn’t do tiny is their shower. They have a giant walk-in shower that’s beautifully encased in tile.

The flight of stairs to the bedroom loft is quite narrow. Ron recommends climbing it with the left foot first, according to Tiny House Swoon.

The bedroom is large enough to accommodate their large bed.

It also houses a few pieces of furniture and a funky ceiling painted with diamonds and leaves.
