Nestled in the scenic expanses of Colorado, artist Caley Cason embarked on a journey.

It’s a journey that seamlessly blends creativity, sustainability, and a dash of whimsical charm.

His masterpiece, a tiny home concealed within the unassuming exterior of a cargo trailer, stands as an ode to the boundless possibilities of alternative living.

Caley, tired of the transient and costly nature of apartment living, sought solace and permanence in a lifestyle that prioritized his happiness and security.

His tiny home, while modest and stealthy on the outside, unfolds into a world where every inch narrates a story of meticulous craftsmanship and an unwavering commitment to a dream.

The journey from concept to reality was not without its challenges.

Caley initiated the build in a rented driveway, crafting a basic setup comprising a bed and countertop, before moving into it and gradually adding to its complexity and functionality.

Over three years, he invested approximately 500 hours and $25,000 into the trailer, transforming it into a living, breathing piece of art.

The labor, he admits, far outweighed the financial investment, with every carved detail and functional addition being a labor of love, culminating in a masterpiece that he now calls home.

The exterior of the “Stealthy Stag” is intentionally inconspicuous.

Caley opted for a silver exterior for the 7 by 14-foot enclosed trailer, to deflect heat and remain discreet, while the interior bursts into a vibrant display of intricate woodwork and thoughtful design.

The trailer, which he purchased for $8,500, underwent modifications such as the addition of propane tank holders, extra vents, and a window, ensuring functionality did not compromise its stealthy aesthetic.

Upon entering, one is greeted by a snake sculpture winding up a tree.

He meticulously crafted it from a real tree and expanded styrofoam. Even its eyes gleam with embedded lights.

The kitchen cabinets, each door a canvas of over 20 hours of hand-carving, exude a rustic charm, while the apothecary-style storage allows Caley to display his snacks and essentials in an aesthetically pleasing manner.

The stag antlers, a family heirloom, and a crystal, a cherished find from a cave exploration, add personal touches that make the space uniquely his.

The kitchen, a harmonious blend of functionality and aesthetic appeal, features a large sink, propane stove, and a tea and spice rack neatly tucked away yet easily accessible.

The custom woodwork, from wooden mushrooms to butterflies and tree branches, shows Caley’s dedication to creating a space that’s both beautiful and practical.

His commitment to bringing nature indoors is evident in every carved detail and branch, crafting an ambiance reminiscent of a cozy treehouse.

The bathroom, with its floating cabinet and under-sink storage, houses a composting toilet and a generously sized stock tank bathtub, ensuring comfort is not compromised in the compact space.

The towel rack was crafted from an old pickaxe, adding a rustic charm.

The corrugated steel siding provides durability and additional insulation.

Every element, from the storage of water to the provision of hot water on demand, has been thoughtfully implemented to ensure seamless functionality.

Moving towards the bedroom, the under-bed storage area serves as a closet and garage, housing everything from clothes to a longboard for local travel.

The bed is elevated to a height that balances the need for under-bed storage and the ability to sit up without hitting the ceiling.

Tight as it looks, it provides a cozy nook for restful slumbers.

The back bookcase, designed to eventually lower down to bed level, will serve as a spacious open window, enhancing the connection with the outdoors.

The workspace is positioned by the window and allows Caley to work standing up.

This way, he can continue gazing out into the world while tending to his graphic design and local printing tasks for his businesses.

His cat, Cali, has claimed a spot by the window, a constant companion in his creative endeavors and adventures.

The bedroom transforms into a vibrant space for festivals and gatherings.

Basically, every detail of the “Stealthy Stag” is an embodiment of a mystical ambiance that’s both enchanting and inviting.

Caley’s future plans with his tiny home involve traveling and creating art, using his home as a base for his ventures.

His company, Arbora, specializes in creating structures from Willow sticks, and his creations, like The Sacred Serpent Garden, have become local attractions.

Tiny house living has not only provided him with a unique dwelling but has also enriched his life, enabling him to spend more time with loved ones, immerse himself in nature, and engage with his community.

It has brought him unexpected happiness and a new perspective on life, proving that sometimes, the smallest spaces can hold the biggest adventures and most profound joys.
