Baking is the most fun some people can have. Being able to try out all those recipes you’ve been saving from Pinterest and YouTube can feel satisfying in more ways than one.
But ovens need to be maintained, and after baking your 5th or 6th meatloaf, it might be time to give the oven a clean.
And cleaning an oven isn’t always as fun as baking. Usually, this would involve a lot of scrubbing.
Don’t you wish there was a more hassle-free and efficient way to clean an oven tray?
I’m here to give you some good news: cleaning an oven tray doesn’t have to be an annoying session of scrubbing.
Thanks to this hack from Uradi Sama, you can clean that oven tray a lot easier.
So you can bake as much as you like and not have to scrub the tray every few weeks.
It involves a plastic bag and dishwashing tablets.
If you can’t get a dishwashing tablet, then detergent can work just as well.
First thing you need to do is remove the oven tray and slide it into the bag.
Since this is a plastic bag, we’re going to want to be careful with the qualities of plastic. The reason being that the next step involves heat, and we all know plastic and high temperatures aren’t a good combination.
But thankfully, we only need moderate heat for this one.
Take that dishwashing tablet or detergent and mix it in a bowl of hot water.
Not too hot since we don’t want to melt or create holes in the plastic bag.
Now pour the soapy water into the bag and tie the bag tightly.
We don’t want any of the water leaking out. If the urge arises, you could give the bag a nice shake to make the water slosh around.
I’m not sure if that’ll make the cleaning more effective, but it’s at least fun.
The following step is much simpler. Just sit and wait. Exactly how long will depend on how dirty the oven tray is.
If it’s covered in grease and debris, then you may need to soak it for the whole day.
Soaking it overnight isn’t a bad call either. It may also be a good idea to place a towel under the bag in case it does somehow leak when you’re not around.
Check back in at the scheduled time and take it out of the bag.
Now, the water can’t do all of the work. Now, you’ll just have to manually wipe and scrub off anything the water missed. This is still a lot less scrubbing to do than if you tried to scrub it down from scratch.
Then, it’s all a matter of just wiping it dry with a cloth and putting it back in the oven.
Now, if you’d prefer to stick with the scrubbing method, that’s perfectly fine too. Sometimes, it can feel better when you know you’re physically removing the dirt.
Still, this is a nice alternative should you ever need it!
