Is Tasmania on your travel bucket list? If it is, you might want to forego staying at an expensive hotel and opt for a shipping container home instead.

The Coast Pods are shipping containers that have been completely transformed into an absolutely beautiful and luxurious vacation home.

Each “pod” contains two bedrooms, lounge or dining area, kitchen, and dining nook.

“However, it’s all the little luxuries that really make a stay at Coast Pods an experience to remember, the soaring central atrium, the huge glass and container doors that open onto the deck and connect you with a view out over the river precinct. These are just a taste of what’s in store to make your stay something special,” Coastal Pods says on their website.

One step inside the home and you enter the open and spacious great room.

The dining and lounge areas have been set up to accommodate up to six people – perfect for a fun family vacation. The large sliding glass doors open up to views of the nearby port, letting in a cool ocean breeze. Notice the gorgeous wood flooring that flows throughout the room.

The Coast Pods has an open floor plan with shipping container doors that swing open for even more stunning views.

Not only do the lower windows and doors provide panoramic views, but the remote-controlled windows in the atrium can also be opened “to adjust temperature flow and maximize thermal properties of the design, minimizing the need for power generated heating and cooling or via the heat pump if you prefer.”

The dining area sits between the lounge area and large kitchen.

While staying at Coast Pods, you’ll have every modern and luxurious amenity you can think of. The kitchen features electric range, stove, dishwasher, and microwave. There is also a washer/dryer combo in the corner.

Just off the kitchen is the container home’s adorable reading nook.

“A guest favorite the reading nook has floor to ceiling bookcases filled with a literary goldmine of good reads, day bed and huge picture windows to soak in the afternoon rays reading a good book, with enough room for a glass of wine, or two within easy access,” they say.

The master bedroom has a king-size bed and private deck area.

A rustic, colorful headboard looks beautiful against the wood planked walls and neutral colored bedding. There is a TV in the room to watch your favorite show before bed, but you’ll probably be too tired from exploring the Tasmanian oceanside.

One of the home’s bathrooms is impressively spacious.

This bathroom boasts a wet area with rain shower, teak shower bench, hand-held jet, and a heated towel holder. There are also two vanities, so no one needs to fight for space. Another bathroom has a bathtub and a rain shower.

Another bedroom has two beds, so there’s plenty of space for everyone to be comfortable.

The queen-size beds are separated by a wooden table, and the same style of rustic headboards can be seen every room – each one with its own character. Decor was kept to a minimum to really open up the space.

The second master suite is just as stunning as the first.

This gorgeous headboard also has two hanging light fixtures on either side, a truly elegant touch. A simple sliding door leads to the en-suite bathroom with shower.
