What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you hear “The Mushroom House”?

A quaint little restaurant? A playhouse for kids? An attraction for kids and the kids at heart?

With such a cute and curious name, it definitely leaves a lot to the imagination.

The Mushroom House is actually Mallory Rankin’s home.

Situated in the same neighborhood Mallory has lived in for years, it was put up for sale and caught Mallory’s attention.

She couldn’t dismiss the thought of potentially owning The Mushroom House, so she decided to schedule a tour.

She immediately fell in love with the place.

It was tiny, charming, and opened a lot of opportunities for design.

Unable to resist, Mallory decided to purchase the house for $170,000.

You’ll love what the proud homeowner did with the place.

Simple and unassuming on the outside but completely Barbie-fied on the inside!

The 500 square feet house is nothing short of delightful.

The kitchen’s standout features include a speckled countertop that brings a subtle contrast to the lilac and white walls and cabinets, while bubblegum pink cabinet handles, shelves, and refrigerator bring the room to life.

We can imagine how fun it must be to cook in such an adorable kitchen!

She told Tiny Home Tours:

“It is very inspired by a Barbie, bubbly-type of look.”

Mallory’s picks truly reflect her personality.

The bathroom, for instance, has an accent wall made from a board that she trimmed herself.

Softness was achieved through rounded pieces – a mirror, shelves, and even the sink.

She was able to combine her form and function without making the area look stiff and overly done.

The living room will make any guest want to extend their visit.

Done in the same light colors, she dressed it up with simple wall art and an accent wall and added little details that pay homage to the house’s name, such as a mushroom-shaped pillow.

You’ll notice Mallory’s eye for color and how everything works perfectly together.

Warm and cool, charming and understated.

Mallory’s decision to transition to tiny living was out of spontaneity.

She told Tiny Home Tours:

“I lived in this city for quite a few years and I’ve seen this house multiple times. Something was telling me I had to have this house. I spontaneously called and took a tour of it and just fell in love.”

Her move to follow her instincts resulted in what has to be known as one of the prettiest homes in the neighborhood.

In the process of moving and decorating, Mallory learned quite a lot.

She realized she had the ability to do whatever she set her mind to.

She took a leap of faith and, in downsizing, discovered the wonders of being independent and working towards the goals she set for herself.

Even though the move didn’t really surprise those who knew her, it was still met with amazement – after all, it’s quite a lot to take on: investing, decorating, DIY-ing.
