Living in a tiny house was a journey of empowerment for the couple D’Arcy and Olivia. It gave them the pride of owning a space they could call their own after years of renting.
It became an affordable and practical choice that enabled them to invest more resources into growing their businesses and securing a future for their son.
It’s a life changer for their family rather than pouring it all into rent or a mortgage.
For this couple, their love for their tiny home is evident. The attention to detail and the sense of comfort it brings them resonate deeply. D’Arcy, who also happens to be the owner of Acorn Tiny Homes, saw this project as an opportunity to challenge himself and create a unique style of tiny house.
Living big inside a small house
Their 32-foot tiny house features thoughtfully designed extensions and a chef-style kitchen. It was carefully constructed with ergonomic layouts and an earthy, woodsy ambiance.
Every element, from the waterfall butcher block countertop to the propane range, was chosen with functionality and efficiency in mind.
Storage solutions were ingeniously integrated into the design. This includes transforming a corner cabinet into a chest freezer and incorporating in-drawer dishwashers to streamline chores.
Their tiny abode was crafted to accommodate various aspects of their lives. From a dedicated office space to a comfortable sleeping loft, every inch was maximized.
The intentional design choices, like a lightweight aluminum ladder that doubled as access to storage and the water supply, showcased their thoughtful approach to space utilization.
Everything is possible, even living inside a tiny house
The couple aimed to showcase that a minimalist lifestyle could harmoniously include raising a child in a tiny house. Their son’s personalized space was carefully designed with storage compartments and a cozy setup, ensuring he felt at home and had ample room to play and grow.
Their bathroom, inspired by Japanese designs, featured an atrium shower surrounded by windows, offering a serene and relaxing experience.
Even their pet cat, Nanaimo, was considered in the design, with a dedicated area for her needs.
Practicality was key in their design, with each section serving multiple functions. The living room, though slightly compromised in headspace due to lofts, featured a pullout couch for additional sleeping arrangements and cleverly concealed storage units.
Despite the limited space, the couple managed to incorporate their hobbies and interests into the house. A console gaming area, a dedicated video game setup, and a focus on providing a comfortable workspace highlighted their commitment to not compromising on their passions.
This is the future
This wonderful creation of D’Arcy and Olivia highlights the innovative use of space throughout the house. It definitely showcased how every nook and cranny was utilized to its maximum potential.
It also touched upon the couple’s satisfaction with their decision to live in a tiny house and how it aligned with their values of sustainability, functionality, and community.
It also emphasized their belief that tiny house living represents the future of affordable housing, leading them to establish Acorn Tiny Homes, where they design unique, custom-made tiny houses.
Their story is not just about a tiny house; it’s about a lifestyle choice that empowered them to live comfortably, sustainably, and in alignment with their values while showcasing the potential of a well-designed, thoughtfully crafted tiny home.
