How do you define a home?
Is it your physical house? Or maybe the people you are with?
There are lots of sayings and quotes that define what a home truly is. Like “Home is where the heart is” or “Home is wherever I’m with you.”
But for one couple named Chris and Brandy, their home-defining quote may as well be “Home is where you park it.”
That’s because this couple lives full-time in a converted school bus with their two cats and a dog.
That may sound like a lot to squeeze into one bus, but once you see what this couple did during the conversion, you’ll understand how they can live so comfortably there.
This full-sized bus was made even bigger when Chris and Brandy decided to raise the roof.
Chris is a pretty tall guy and with the original roof being only 6 feet tall, he knew he was going to have to make a little more headroom in there.
The couple took a leap.
They cut the roof off so they could add 15 more inches.
And what a difference it makes.
As you walk into this awesome home-on-wheels, you forget immediately that you are inside of a school bus.
It looks much more like a home than a school bus.
Putting skills to good use
Chris has been remodeling homes for most of his life, so he took all of his skills and knowledge and threw them at this project.
Inside the bus, there is a completely functional kitchen and living room, a bathroom with a shower, plenty of storage, and a queen-sized mattress in the bedroom.
Even the cats are comfortable.
The couple even made a little dining room for their cats so that they have a place all to their own.
Minimal sacrifices
In the living room, they made sure to leave enough space for a nice big couch and a full-sized TV.
Chris and Brandy love to watch their favorite shows and movies at night to unwind so having this space in the bus was a must.
Their kitchen is equipped with a nice big fridge, countertop, sink, and a two-burner cooktop.
No skimping on shower space
When it’s time to get cleaned up, the couple uses their shower in the bathroom towards the back of the bus.
Once completed, it ended up being about four feet long by two and a half feet wide so there is just about as much room in their bus shower as there is in any other conventional shower out there.
Once Chris and Brandy are ready to call it a day they go into their bedroom where they have a nice big mattress waiting for them.
How do they power all this?
Well, Chris and Brandy set up a complete solar system to power their bus.
They’ve four huge panels on the roof and batteries to store their power underneath the bed.
