“The ultimate luxury is being able to relax and enjoy your home.” – Jeff Lincoln
Everyone wants their own dream home.
The love for this house and the memories we’ll cherish with our family will turn our dream house into a home.
We all have an idea of what our dream house would look like.
Some may dream of owning an extravagant condominium, while some may want to have a small and cozy home on their farm.
Whatever you may dream of, there’s only one thing that we want the most – to build our dream house and live there with our loved ones.
A lovely couple from Cowlitz County, Washington D.C. decided that it was time to turn their dream into a reality.
They decided to start converting two shipping containers into their dream house.
Jamie and Dave were featured in Living Big In A Tiny House, and their story will not just inspire you but will also teach you important life lessons.
The show’s host, Bryce Langston, traveled to Cowlitz County, Washington, to visit an inspiring couple with an amazing home.
The featured house had been constructed from a 40ft shipping container and another 20ft container on top.
This impressive and stylish home will surely inspire you, but like most of their stories, this dream-come-true project didn’t come easy.
Jamie and Dave decided to sell their home in Vancouver, Washington, when they finally found their dream property.
According to their blog, That Tiny Life Love:
“We found our property on Craigslist from a private party for cheap. When we purchased it, it was a goat trail along the side of the mountain. “
They were ecstatic because they wanted to start their dream home as soon as possible, and their main goal was to live debt and mortgage-free.
Who wouldn’t want that?
As we grow older and mature, we tend to seek comfort with a simpler life.
To be able to break free from the hustle and bustle of the city and just enjoy the comforts of our home. It would also be nicer if we were to retire debt and mortgage-free.
From there, the couple started building their dream home.
The couple still managed to work their jobs and just focused on working on their house Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for ten months.
You’d think that the labor, the money involved, and juggling their work would be their major challenges, but it wasn’t.
The couple didn’t expect to face a big problem while building their dream house.
Their hearts and dreams almost crashed when one day, Dave suffered major bleeding in his brain.
Jaime never left his side and ensured that her husband felt how much she loved him.
Jaime remembers her husband whispering to her, “I don’t have time for this, we’re building a house.”
She knew that they would make it through and that they were stronger together.
She never left his side, and she said,
“This was my best friend and this was not the way that out story was supposed to go,” Jaime said in her interview.
For three months, they worked so hard to be able to re-establish his speech, his senses, and everything he needed.
Their therapist used the things around their project to help Dave regain his strength.
From there, he could get up every morning and do work little by little.
It gave him hope and a sense of purpose.
According to the couple, this event slowed them down, but in the end, they were still able to triumph over everything, and they were able to finish their house in ten months.
Now, after sharing their inspiring story, it was time for them to give a tour of their prized home.
Upon entering their house, you would have already admired the beauty of their landscape and garden.
The fresh air and trees, and they even have hammocks to relax while talking.
You’d think that it was a professional who made all the effort, but it was the couple’s hard work and love that made all of these possible.
As they welcome Bryce inside their home, you’d immediately notice their beautiful fireplace in front of their small but cozy couch.
Then, the star of the first floor is their amazing kitchen.
For such a tiny space, Jaime ensured she had all the space she needed in her kitchen.
They said they can accommodate 6 people in their dining room area. S
he also mentioned how she was able to move around comfortably and have full-sized appliances in their tiny home.
Another star to notice in their home is the spacious bathroom.
They wanted a bathroom where they could move around, take a bath, and get dressed without feeling cramped.
Their pantry and closet room are also very large.
Inside their first floor, you wouldn’t even think it was a shipping container.
The design was well-thought and very impressive.
Now, looking at the second floor is their bedroom.
Jaime and Dave wanted to have many windows, which allowed them to enjoy the beautiful view of the forest.
Bryce wasn’t just impressed; he was amazed by the challenges that the couple had to go through to have this beautiful home.
It was really something to be proud of.
The view of their home is therapeutic, with no traffic noises, no pollution, and no stress.
It was their dream home, something that they are proud of, a project that helped them understand each other more, a project that helped Dave have a second chance in life.
A home of their own, where they can retire, hold hands, and reminisce life – together.
Jaime and Dave posted their experience in their blog; they said that they wanted to be able to inspire people with their story.
“Dave and I told Bryce & Rasa, that while we were so honored that they wanted to film our home, it was our story of love and perseverance, even when all seems impossible that we wanted to share. Our prayer was that if by sharing, we could touch just one person’s life, then it was all worth it.
Indeed, they have inspired many and will continue to inspire more people.
