Tiny homes, which have a long history, have become increasingly more popular in recent years. One couple went in a slightly different direction by building a tiny cabin. They spent little money to build an adorable retreat.
DIY project
An excellent way to spend less than the already affordable price for a tiny cabin is by building it yourself. That’s right, by doing the construction, you can have a gorgeous home complete with quality upcycled materials. That’s what one couple did.
A perfect getaway
This couple wanted a retreat, a place where they could go to relax but without compromising on some of the luxuries they enjoyed. Their goal was to build a summer cabin, which is what they did. And the best part, it only cost them $700.
A super cool design
A lot of people who visit the mountains want to be as close to nature as possible. This couple wasn’t any different. So, they came up with a plan that reached beyond their expectations. The result is phenomenal.
Sleeping under the stars
One thing this couple wanted was a way to be safe yet sleep under the stars. If you’ve ever spent any time in the mountains, you know the nighttime sky lights up so beautifully. It’s nothing compared to what you see when living in the city.
Glass wall
To achieve that part of their plan, they built an entire side of the A-shaped cabin with glass windows. That meant when they climbed into bed at night, they could look up to see the millions of stars in the sky That’s about as good as it gets.
There’s more
As if that wasn’t spectacular enough, this couple did other things that are just as impressive. The wall of glass windows opens up vertically for an amazing view and fresh mountain air. That’s what you call sleeping under the stars…literally.
Efficient porch
While not super large, this cabin also has a porch that extends from the front to one side of the structure. For two people, it’s a perfect size. They have plenty of room for chairs, a small table, and even a planter of fresh flowers.
Plenty of interior space
On the inside of the cabin, they have ample space. There’s a small kitchen area, the bed where they sleep, and even storage nooks and crannies. When they visit the cabin, they have everything they need.
Finding a great plan
So, where did the couple come up with all their ideas? Well, they did some research online and found a company that sells plans. And with a total of 80 square feet, it wouldn’t take all that long to construct. They had the cabin built in only three weeks.
Sustainable property
Perhaps one of the most exciting aspects of this tiny cabin is that most of the materials were upcycled. So, they ended up with a sustainable home. To help even more and lower the cost of maintenance further, they added several solar panels.
