Most of us have dreamt of living in Europe, and there’s a good chance that a lot of us have dreamt of living in the City of Lights.
Paris has always been a destination for some, but for those who’ve lived in the city, moving away from it seems to be the better option.
Floating on the magnificent Seine River is a cargo boat that could easily beat any apartment near the Eiffel Tower.
And the best part? The neighborhood is as quiet as the nature that surrounds it.
And their house blends right in.
Far from the center of Paris floats a 1950s cargo barge.
Just by looking at it, you’d know that this is not the same barge that sailed the rivers when it was first made.
Re-envisioning life
The transformation of this ship is the idea of Jeremie and Sara Malvy who bought the rusty tub for €11,000.
They said that the price is very much worth it compared to what they once had in the city center.
In their old place, the space was so small for other activities that they couldn’t even invite most of their friends over.
The ship L’Aventura becomes Punjab.
Punjab boasts an elegantly designed deck and several fully furnished bedrooms for guests to stay in.
The cargo hold was punched with portholes and was divided into smaller rooms.
The very first thing that you’ll notice is the abundance of two things.
Glass and plants.
The couple wanted to fill the space with greens to make it more alive.
The main living space also has a whole row of ceiling-to-floor windows for an uninterrupted view of the Seine.
The portholes and various glass fixtures also let more natural light spill in, like the section of glass floors.
They also have a glass staircase.

Have you ever tried soaking in a hot tub under the Parisian starlight and over the glittering Seine? Jeremie and Sara can definitely say yes.
A world unto itself
Also, instead of busy tourist-filled streets and car honks, they are surrounded by the quiet flowing of the river and some boats that pass their home.
Their bedroom also has a walk-in closet and their ship has a dedicated laundry area and a sauna.
The deck is also spacious enough that they can invite ten or more friends for dinner. But Sara admitted that it’s difficult to have a luxury house like this.
No place like home
She shared in the video that it’s often hard to eat outside. She’d often ask herself if the place they were going to looks better than their home. If not, then just stay in.
Meanwhile, Jeremie shared that he always had an affinity with the river. For one, it makes him calm. But more than that, the river has seen him at his lowest.
He shared that when he first came to Paris, he was alone and homeless.
He would sleep under the bridges along the Seine and since he had no friends, he spoke to the river when things got difficult.
Jeremie still lives on the Seine, but this time it’s in a luxury home accompanied by the love of his life.
