Farmers are building custom merry-go-rounds for their chickens and it's a win for everyone
It's hours of entertainment for everyone, really.

We often think of chickens as primitive birds that are content with just hanging out in the chicken coop all day and squawking. However, is that really their preferred lifestyle or is it only that way because they have no other option? Some farmers have discovered something very interesting recently.

In order to keep their bored chickens entertained, the creative farmers built them merry-go-rounds out of old bicycle tires!

They thought that their chickens needed some more excitement in their lives, and excitement is exactly what they got.

The videos on Facebook will bring a huge smile to your face.

The chickens hop on top of the tires and then begin spinning round and round. It doesn’t matter the breed of bird. From Leghorns to Jersey Giants, all of these chickens really love the new activity.

For a bird that is used to sitting on a nest of eggs all day, the merry-go-rounds provide a much-needed change of pace.

Their lives went from dull and bland to lively and full of fun!

Occasionally, even multiple chickens will hop on the merry-go-rounds at the same time.

It turns out, chickens are surprisingly social animals.

Free-range chickens are often very aware of everyone else in their little community and they even have social ranks. New chickens added to the henhouse take on subservient roles to the ones on home turf. Size, color, and age are just a few of the additional factors that come into effect.

Roosters, on the other hand, are much more solitary.

They don’t like to have fun quite as much as the other female chickens do.

Some merry-go-rounds are fancier than others too.

For starters, just check out this bright purple one! The chickens in this coop are really spinning around in style.

After getting some exercise on the purple bike tire, of course, they have to go charge up again with some more food.

Balancing on a spinning merry-go-round takes a lot of energy!

Some farmers have thought about this problem a lot and decided to combine both merry-go-rounds and food into one giant wheel of fun.

Why not knock out both eating and exercising at once?

They fashioned some ears of corn to a spinning setup built on top of an old table base. Although, they do have to be careful. If one chicken jumps up top and starts spinning, the ears of corn are liable to knock the other poor birds in the head.

That’s all part of the challenge and excitement though. There is no doubt about it. When you’re a chicken, getting to play on a custom-built merry-go-round is just as good as going to Disney World.

As you can see in the video, when the chickens peck at the corn, it causes the whole device to spin. Then all of the chickens end up walking around in a big circle chasing the food. If they want to get a bite to eat, they really have to work for it.

“My chickens love their merry-go – round; I have happy chickens!” writes Harold-Shelia Logan Jr. on Facebook.

These farmers have made the coolest two-wheel merry-go-round that we’ve ever seen.
