If you’ve always wanted to learn how to crochet but never did because you thought it would be too hard, then you’re not the only one. You might even be surprised how easy crocheting can be, once you get the basics down.
One really easy and cute crochet stitch is the tulip stitch. Basically, like the name says, this stitch is supposed to look like little crocheted tulips and it’s surprisingly simple!
Thanks to Helpful Honey, an amazing DIY-er, and her super helpful video, you’ll be crocheting the tulip stitch in no time at all. Let’s break it down.
For starters, you’ll need a set of crochet needles and three colors of yarn for your tulip stitch – one color each for your base, your leaves and the petals of your tulips.
First, you’re going to start by making the foundation for your tulip stitch. To start, you’ll need to crochet in multiples of three plus one. Once you have your first few layers down, you’re all set to start working on your tulips.
You’ll also likely want to use a neutral color for the foundation as not to clash with your other colors. Be sure to check out the video below if you have any questions about how to start.
Next, after you’ve finished the last chains of your base, you’re going to start on the tulips themselves. For the leaves, you’ll probably want to use some sort of green color in order to give it that tulip look, but don’t be afraid to think outside the box.
Once you insert your green yarn, you’re going to begin chaining four at a time. Basically that means you’re going to put the yarn over your crochet needle and then pull it through your loop on the hook. Repeat this four times.
Then, flip your work over so that you’re crocheting in the opposite direction. You’ll want to keep creating the chain of 4 and then flipping to get the zig-zag pattern above.
Lastly, to get your tulips, switch to your third and final color.

Once you have your first set of 5 double-crochets, you’re going to close off your tulip with a single chain, flip your work, and then repeat the motion on the opposite side. When you finish your tulip stitches, switch back to your base color to frame your lovely little flowers.
