Have you ever found yourself in a position where your toilet was clogged and you just couldn’t do anything about it? The only answer to your problem was the plumber, right?

Wrong. The plumber, believe it or not, should be your last resort. Before calling him, there’s something that you can do about a clogged toilet- and, trust us, it works like a charm!

The best thing is that you don’t even need a plunger. The only things you’ll need are some dish soap and a gallon of very, very hot water.

But, how can plain soap and water work for clogged toilets?

It’s so simple: just like it dissolves food particles that are stuck on dishes, soap can help dissolve anything that causes clogs in your toilet.

So, how can you do this practically?

First of all, you should pour a gallon of water in a large pot and set it on the stovetop to heat up. Be careful not to bring the water to the boil, because boiling water could crack your toilet bowl. Well, honestly, this is something you’d want to avoid.

Once you’ve got everything on hand, it’s showtime!

Pour half a cup of dish soap into the toilet bowl. Let it sit while the water is heating up. When the water is ready, carefully pour it into the toilet bowl and let the magic happen!

Watch as the water and soap dissolve the clogs and your toilet works perfectly again.

In the video below, a man explains how his toilet used to be clogged as well. He says when he flushed the water went up to the rim of the toilet bowl and then it slowly went down again.

His suggestion is that, before anyone who faces the same problem calls a plumber, they should try his trick.

Before showing the actual hack, he admits he first tried other methods for unclogging the toilet, like the one with the plunger and white vinegar. Unfortunately, nothing seemed to work, although it first looked like it did.

And then, he moves on to show exactly how the hack works.

Instead of heating water on the stovetop, the man uses extremely hot tap water.

He pours one bucket of water into the toilet bowl, and then he pours about 8 ounces of dish soap. Next, he prepares one more bucket with hot water.

Once the water in the toilet bowl starts to flow down, he pours the next bucket of water in there. He explains that five or six buckets of water may be needed in order to unclog the toilet. Patience is key during this process, he says.

Another tip he has to give to anyone who wants to try his method is that they should let the dish soap with the initial one bucket of water sit for about 10 to 15 minutes. Again, patience is necessary here.

How do you know that the clog has been taken care of?

Well, if you pour the water and it goes up to the rim and then immediately goes back down, then the hack has probably worked.

Still, pouring some extra buckets of water in there won’t hurt, just to make sure your toilet works fine.

So, next time you consider calling the plumber, maybe try working it out on your own.
