Gardens are an area of our home where we can create a serene and whimsical atmosphere. The best part about this is that we can create this atmosphere without spending a lot of money.

And what better way to create some serenity in your garden than with a water feature.

I know what you’re thinking! Making a garden pond sounds like a feature that is way out of your price range, but it’s totally not. Or you may be you’re thinking this is a project that will take you weeks and weeks to complete. But that’s not the case either.

You can make your very own simple DIY garden pond with just $30 and a few hours.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • A watertight plastic storage container to keep the water in
  • Fountain or solar powered pump
  • Concrete pavers
  • Rocks and stones of different sizes
  • Plants that are tolerant of water

Here’s How You’ll Do It:

Step 1) Find a good spot for your garden pond. Make sure there’s enough space for your pond and that it is near a power source or has a lot of sunlight depending on what kind of pump you’re using.

You’ll also want to have your pond in a sunny place so that your water plant can grow well. Be sure that you aren’t placing it near electrical or gas lines.

Step 2) Use your shovel to trace the shape of your container. Dig a hole that is the same size as your container using your traced lines. Place your container inside and make sure it is level with the ground.

Step 4) Take the pavers and place them along the edge of your container o cover it. Use your pavers, stones, and rocks to cover up your power cords or other unsightly areas. You can also dig a trench to hide the cord or just wind it behind the plants to hide it. Add some more stones to create a design and make your pond look fancy.

You should make sure you clean out your pond on a regular basis as well as use an algae inhibitor to keep your water clear. You can find some at a home improvement store where pond supplies are sold.
