We spend a lot of time in our homes, so it’s nice when you can bring in fabulous decor. But the reality is, home decorating isn’t in everyone’s budget – and not all of us are cut out for complicated DIY projects.

Fortunately, there are simple ways to add beauty to your home without it costing an arm and a leg. We’re talking dollar store hacks people! Kathryn from Do It On A Dime shared five amazing home decor projects that are easy, inexpensive, and turn out gorgeous. Just be ready for the compliments.

They’ll add a lovely glow to the back patio after the sun goes down, or like Kathryn discovered, the lights work inside of the house as well. Plus, they’re charming with or without the light – don’t you think?

Nautical Rope Planters

You don’t have to spend a lot of money to have amazing home decor. The planters in the project below look like they came straight from the shelves of a fancy store – but really, they’re made from rope Kathryn found at Dollar Tree. (Shhh…we won’t tell.)

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Packages of nautical rope
  • Hot glue gun
  • Old plate

Directions:

You’re going to begin coiling the rope little by little on your plate, adding drops of glue as you’re doing so. This will become the bottom of your planter.

Once you reach the size you’d like, you’re going to start going upwards to create the planter’s sides. You’ll basically be wrapping the rope on top of the circle’s edge, creating layers and gluing along the way.

Be sure to watch the visual demonstration in the video to get a better idea of the method. Plus, you’ll see how to add handles to your planter too. Check out the end result in the photo below!

Original Art To Celebrate Your Pet

As we know, pieces of art can be pricey. So, why not make your own for just a few bucks!

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 2 small canvases
  • Non-toxic paint

Directions:

Remove the canvas material from ONE of the wooden frames, then sand the wood. Now, you can either paint or stain the wooden frame, or leave it plain. *The other canvas should be left the way you bought it.

Using non-toxic paint, get your pooch’s paw print on the canvas that’s still intact. Then, glue the wooden frame on top of the canvas to make it look like a real piece of art. How neat is that?
