Before you get started with any DIY craft project, especially if it’s your first time, there are a few things every DIY-er must remember.
Make sure that you have an area in your place where you can freely create without having to worry that you’re inhaling unwanted chemicals in your sleep or transferred to your food. Make sure that your tools will also be away from the prying, inquisitive hands of young children.

And on that note, make sure you only buy the tools you need for now. These are tools that you will be using for a number of projects. So if you’re not using it, it will take up space.
Take advantage of the internet and look for ideas you can use. Make sure that the DIY projects you undertake can be accommodated where you live or work. You can’t have a workshop table with power tools when you only live in a small room in a shared house. Or have lots of spray paint decor ideas when you live in an apartment with no balcony and no roof deck in the building.

Check your schedule. How much time can you devote to DIY-ing?
Are you just looking to create small items that can be done quickly? Or do you want to create big projects, like tables, chairs, or other items that will take up time?
And if you are unsure, always consult with an expert. Nothing beats having unique, one-of-a-kind pieces living in your home but it’s not worth your health and safety. Talk to them about the best safety tips for DIY projects.

So what’s the best DIY project to get started for beginners?
You can create cute flower vases using old glass bottles or even salt and pepper shakers you have no use for. You can paint it your favorite color and tie a bow or lace near the rim. You can add fresh or dried flowers to give life to the room.
Do you know the very expensive rope baskets that would look good in your room? You can make your own! All you need are a dollar store laundry basket felt or any cloth for the liner, a glue gun, jute rope, a paintbrush, and paint in any color you want. Or if you want to keep it all-natural, then go for that look.
Social media influencer and home decor creator Tamara Bradshaw has a brilliant DIY idea that anyone can create in a few hours.
She used four glasses from the dollar store and created an elegant and luxurious flower vase for the home. All you need for this project besides the glasses are a glue gun and high-grade polyurethane adhesive, spray paint, paper towels or old newspapers, a painter’s mask and goggles (optional but highly recommended), patience, and creativity.
Use the glue gun and adhesive to stick the glass together.
Make sure that you have steady hands when you do this because if you make a mistake, you won’t be able to unstick the glasses and start over.
When that’s done, take it outside and spray paint the glasses with your color of choice. When it’s dry, add a funky design using your glue gun between the glasses and spray paint it again.
When it’s dry, add flowers (fresh or dried), or print your photos or motivational messages and glue them to a stick, and place them in these glasses. It’s up to you.
Where will your creativity take you?
