For this project you won’t need any fancy equipment or materials, and it won’t really take long at all. And the best part of it? It’s super cheap and will only cost you $15!

So, let’s get down to it!

The bench you are going to make – and remember, will take no more than fifteen minutes to put together once you have all the materials and equipment on hand- will be 48”x 17”x 14 1/2”.

First things first, since it’s a wooden bench, you will need some wood!

Your planks will have to have the following dimensions:

– one 2”x 4x 8ft

– one 2”x 8”x 8ft

For this project, you will have to cut the wood into several pieces, so if you’re not into cutting or don’t have a saw at home, you can buy the wood from Home Depot and ask them to cut it into the right size pieces for you. This will work just as fine- and it will save you some time and effort!

You will also need:

– 2 1/2” construction screws

– a sanding block

Now, you’re good to go! Let’s see how you can make this bench step by step.

If you haven’t opted for the pre-cut wood, then you’ll have to use a miter saw to cut the 2”x 8”x 8ft plank in half so that you have to equal pieces. Then, it’s time to cut the 2”x 4”x 8ft one into four pieces 15 1/2” long and four pieces 8” long.

Do you now have ten pieces of wood to put together? Great, let’s do this!

Take two 8” pieces and two 15 1/2” pieces and arrange them in such a way that they form a rectangle. Secure them using the screws. To make your life easier, make sure you predrill the holes.

Repeat this one more time with your other four similar pieces and, there you have it, the legs of your bench are done!

Now, moving on to the next step.

Carefully place the 2”x 8” pieces side by side so that they are flush. Place one leg on each end, making sure there is 1 3/4” overhang on each side. Then, secure the legs on the 2”x 8” pieces using more construction screws. Don’t forget to predrill the holes, so it’s much easier to do.

And your bench is ready- or almost ready. All you have to do now is sand it down. When you’re done with that, too, you can stain, paint, whitewash it, you name it! You can really use your imagination and decorate it however you like.

In this case, The Rehab Life decided to stain it and the result is absolutely amazing!
