One YouTube channel that offers an in-depth look into the life of a tiny homeowner is The Nomadic Lifestyle. The channel shares tours of tiny homes that have magnificent views and unique interior touches that make them well worth their slice of internet fame.
There is a whole myriad of videos to get lost in on The Nomadic Lifestyle’s channel, but one of the best to this day is a video tour of a tiny home in Guatemala.
Nestled into the mountainside and suspended partly over a koi pond, this tiny home is shaped like a small dome. It has a large window with breathtaking views across the mountains, and a stone bench and fire pit, including a repurposed roadside sign as a table, outside.
But what’s really interesting about this home is its inside. When you step inside the house, the space is open and airy, with two huge windows on each opposite side of the space. At just under 300 square feet, the windows make this space feel far less like a tiny home than it actually is.
This tiny house has quite a contemporary feel, despite the fact that it uses repurposed materials for its floors, countertops, and furnishings.
The biggest area of the tiny home is the living area, which has a sofa that doubles as a bed for guests.
Moving onto the bedroom, this too feels very spacious and open, with a wall that separates it from the kitchen, giving it a privacy feel.
The owner of this tiny home wanted to use as many LED lights in their home as possible, partly because they’re eco-friendly, and partly because they give off a blue light that mimics daylight, giving the space a brighter feel.
But to ensure the tiny home still has a warm, homely feel, the owner used repurposed beer bottles to make lampshades, which add a really interesting touch to the bedroom.
At first glance, there doesn’t look to be anything special about the bathroom in this home. But it has a secret eco-friendly touch: all the water that’s used in the shower and the sink is sourced from the nearby river.
The water in the tiny home isn’t drinkable, so the owner uses a countertop water filter, which removes the impurities and makes it safe to consume.
Into the kitchen, and there are a large fridge and oven that are perfect for cooking for a whole family. There’s also a microwave, a four-burner stovetop, and a sink.
The biggest takeaway from this tiny home is its sustainability. The owner clearly wanted to incorporate numerous eco-friendly features into their home, and looking at the end result, they did a great job of it.
