Home DIY expert Drew Scott of Lone Fox has finally made his viewers’ most requested video: giving his landlord a tour of his apartment.
Drew’s landlord’s name is Roger. Roger is 84 years old and he has rented the upper level of his home to Drew. When Drew moved in, Roger gave him permission to paint and renovate the apartment as he pleased.
This permission gave Drew so much freedom to transform the space from an eclectic, mish-mash of rooms to a homey and bright apartment.
Over the two and a half years that he lived in the apartment, he made several makeovers in the living room, the breakfast nook in the kitchen, and the tiny weird room formerly known as the horror movie room.
Now that he’s about to move out (to his own home), Drew wanted to show Roger the changes he made in the apartment.
Fun fact about Drew and this apartment: he didn’t sign the lease when he first saw it.
He didn’t like the mirrors all over the walks and the popcorn ceiling. He told the realtor, who said the landlord agreed to remove all those if they sign the lease. The rest is history!
At the end of his “Full Apartment Tour” video, he mentioned that he would ask Roger if he’d like to view the apartment.
Apparently, Roger said yes, and Drew is about to surprise him with all the changes he made!
Because Roger has a hard time walking and going up the stairs, Drew assisted him. He set him up on his desk chair with wheels. This way, Roger will be able to move around the apartment with ease.
“Oh my goodness!” were the first words Roger said when he entered the living area.
When they moved in, the walls were already faded white with a blue border separating the walls and the popcorn ceiling. The windows had white panels and there was a white non-working fireplace on one of the walls.
Drew transformed it into a bright living area with almost a rustic look.
Drew painted the window panels a black color as well as the fireplace alcove. He added two brown leather couches facing each other with a flat-screen TV mounted on the wall in the middle of it.
“This is gorgeous, I’m going to have to raise the rent,” Roger joked.
Next, Drew brought him to the dining area, where he kept the original crystal chandelier.
One of the walls had a cutout for a china cabinet but Drew decided to create an original. He added two wooden shelves plus a cabinet at the bottom. He painted that wall brown and added a repurposed wood table.
Right after the dining area is the kitchen.
The kitchen is in the corner of the apartment with lots of windows plus a big empty space by the fridge. He decided to transform it into a breakfast nook, especially with so many windows on both sides.
One of Drew’s followers’ favorite rooms in the apartment is his roommate Marie’s bedroom.
Drew used lime wash paint on the walls to make them look textured. Plus he added moldings on the wall to transform the room’s entire look. Roger said it was a designer’s bedroom.
Now Drew saved the best room for last, his bedroom.
The best feature of his bedroom is the arched windows. He made these the focal point of his room by adding two sofa chairs that are now bathed by the sunlight entering from that window.
There was also a tiny alcove by the window, which Drew transformed into his office.
All in all, Roger loved everything Drew transformed in the apartment.
Roger is older and would not have thought of updating the apartment the way Drew did. Sadly, Roger passed away a few months after this video was taken.
It’s good to know that he was able to see how his simple home was transformed into such an elegant one before he left this world.
