Given the chance, would you move your family to a remote cabin in the mountains of Northern Italy?

It may sound like a dream for some, but for others, it’s a breathtaking reality.

Heather and Brady bought a property last year and finally moved their family to Italy to begin their new life. In the middle of this big move is a barn that’s about a hundred years old.

Heather and Brady document their lives through their channel Raising Voyagers.

In the video, the couple shared the start of their Italian life. The property is around 4 acres and is situated at the foot of the Italian Alps.

The property afforded them a view they’ll never have back in the United States.

They are overlooking a town below the mountains where clouds roll in over and through the peaks.

As Heather said, seeing it in pictures or through a video won’t really give the view some justice. She can’t help but tear up, not only because of the view, but because they’re finally starting their dream life as a family.

But big moves are not without challenges.

The mountain cabin will take a lot of work. It is old and was not really designed to have a full-time tenant, much so an entire family of four.

Fortunately, the couple’s kids, Alexa and Chloe, are more than willing to lend a hand. The first thing they needed to do was to dig the property out.

As it sits abandoned for several decades, nature has reclaimed areas of the property.

One of the obvious starting points was the gorgeous handmade stone terrace. Being on the mountainside, the previous occupants had to level the areas around the house for more space.

The rocks used were hand carved much like the stones used to build the cozy and rustic stone barn.

Luckily for the family, the previous tenant left them with an assortment of hand tools that can help them with their journey.

They have chisels, shovels, picks, saws, and even a wooden level. There are also ladders, hammers, and hand drills. Brady, impressed with the tools, even plans on displaying them once they’re done renovating.

They also plan on having a garden in one of the terraces.

It was only one of the few amenities they aim to build. Other projects include renovating the shed and turning it into a garage.

In the meantime, the family moved into their apartment in town. They’ll be staying in the apartment until their mountain property is fully renovated.

Brady shared the challenges they’ll face in the future.

One of which is Italy is strict when it comes to the technical aspects of building which meant they need to pool the necessary funds to pay for different contractors.

Nonetheless, the family is optimistic about their project. Both of them are also happy because their kids wanted to be involved as much as they can.

As early as now, they are learning the value of hard work and how it will all pay off in the biggest ways in the end.
