Any guesses as to how many miles this family has traveled in their adorable home?

Just because you’re ‘living tiny,’ doesn’t mean you’re living with less. In fact, it’s quite the opposite — just ask this family of three.

Christian, Alexis, and Alexis’ son Garrett not only wanted to downsize into a tiny home, but they wanted to make sure that it was fully transportable at a moment’s notice. Although many tiny houses are mobile, moving them can be quite a production. This family wanted a mobile tiny home that would only take a few minutes to hitch to a truck to drive to their next destination.

The Tiny House Expedition is what came to fruition for this intrepid family. Since they built the 20-foot tiny home on wheels, it has traveled over 40,000 miles with no plans of stopping.

The exterior of the home features rustic wood siding and small covered entryway. The stairs to the porch can easily be stowed while the family travels to their next location.

Since the house spends a majority of the time on the road, it was important for the interior to provide all the day-to-day necessities; of course, comfort was a main priority as well.

The Tiny House Expedition features a comfortable lounge area (with lots of hidden storage), a dining area that doubles as a workspace, two sleeping lofts, a bathroom, and a kitchen.

Although the house is packed with amenities and functionality, the family made sure not to make the space feel cramped or cluttered.

From this angle, you can get a glimpse into the small, but fully-loaded, kitchen. It features a stovetop range with oven, sink, small refrigerator, and plenty of counter space. The black shelf you see to the left is actually a pull-out step that leads up to the sleeping loft. The vaulted ceilings provide vertical space in the narrow home.

Make your way up the clever stairs to reach the cozy, main sleeping loft.

Although compact, the queen-sized sleeping loft is oozing with comfort and charm. Windows on either side let in the natural light and cool breeze. The copper-pipe Edison lights are just one of the many elements of decor that add so much character to the family’s abode.

On the opposite side of the home is Garrett’s sleeping loft — it has everything a young teen could ever want in a bedroom.

Garrett only lives with Christian and Alexis part-time, but when he does visit — he has his own little sanctuary that he designed himself. His loft features a twin-size bed and a fold-down desk. He even has a pulley system, pictured in the righthand corner, to help get his toys upstairs.

The bathroom doesn’t let one inch of space go to waste. It boasts a composting toilet, large shower, and lots of cabinetry for storage.

Since there isn’t any counter space in the bathroom for shaving or doing makeup, the couple installed a smart fold-down table that can be stowed away when not in use; fully maximizing the space.

At over 40,000 miles, the family has been documenting their journey through a series called Living Tiny Legally. Take a full tour of their home and learn more about their travels in the video below.
