Grab your bananas.

It’s no surprise that this Youtuber, Ujjwal Mitra would use bananas as fertilizer as it is a great source of potassium, phosphorus, and calcium. All you need is a handful of bananas peels or more depending how much you want to make!

It’ll be super easy to collect them if you’re a frequent banana eater.

Start cutting them up.

Grab your scissors and begin cutting up the banana peels into about one-inch pieces. You’ll want to dispose of all the end pieces as well. Simple, right?

Grab a plastic two-liter bottle.

You might have one of these lying around in your recycling bin. Grab the bottle and cut off the top of it, and set aside for later. You’re just going to need the bottom for now.

Then you’re going to put your freshly cut banana peels into the bottle.

Next, get some water.

Fill up the bottle with enough water to top off the banana peels. You’re going to want to fill it up not quite all the way to the top. You’ll see the peels float up to the top and that’s fine.

Then, cover the bottle with a close-fitting lid. If you can’t find one, a piece of foil or a paper towel covered with plastic wrap will work, too.

Now all you have to do is wait for the water to soak up the banana peel nutrients.

You’ll leave the bottle to sit for three days.

You can see that the water color has changed in the video and they are now all floating around the bottle.

Now this is where the top of the bottle comes in. It’s going to become a makeshift funnel. Cut a small hole in the lid to ensure the fertilizer can drain through. Then, get another smaller cup and put the funnel in it.

Stir it up!

Next, stir up the mixture in the two-liter bottle. Make sure you stir it up really well! Then pour the mixture into the smaller cup. The liquid is where all the good stuff is.

Feed your plant family!

Pour the liquid all around the plants you want to fertilize and repeat this process once a week.

He shows how well a bigger plant of his is doing in the video and, trust me, your plants will be sure to thank you, too.
