Would you live in a tiny home if you didn’t have to sacrifice space or any of the amenities that make our homes convenient and cozy?
That’s what the creators of The Flex House had in mind with their 760-square-foot design.
The Flex House was created by Green Builder Media and Shelter Dynamics and Shelter Dynamics to do away with excess in the name of conservation while still offering homeowners all the things they need to live comfortably.
“We live big here in America, but at the same time there’s a growing awareness about resource conservation. What I like about the Flex House is we’re not asking people to sacrifice. We’re just asking people to not use any more room than they need,” said Green Builder Media CEO Sara Gutterman, according to their website.
The first thing that sets the Flex House apart from other tiny homes is its size.
Tiny homes are traditionally about 200 to 400-square-feet, but the Flex House is double that.
This allows enough space to enjoy the home’s full-sized rooms. The kitchen features all the amenities and appliances you’d find in a standard home.
The kitchen boasts a large stainless steel refrigerator, oven and stove combo, washing machine and a generous amount of counter space.
There’s also a cozy dining nook that can seat several people.
The living room offers a cozy space to relax and spend time with family. There is even a second living space.
The home’s bathroom features a toilet and a full shower.
Just outside of the bathroom is a vanity with storage and a sink.
The home also has a stackable washer and dryer. The master bedroom features a nice sized bed and space for an armoire and clothing storage.
There’s also a second room that can be used a spare bedroom, office space, or gym.
The Flex House is beautifully designed with high ceilings, arched doorways, rounded corners, clerestory windows, and a U-shaped layout.
But the very best part about this home is that it’s eco-friendly. It produces all of its own power with high-performance solar panels and battery storage.
The Flex House is built to conserve water and withstand weather and time.
It’s built with sustainable non-toxic materials and is completely run by smart devices that make sure to conserve resources wherever possible while keeping its inhabitants safe.
Green Builder Media and Shelter Dynamics say that their home is for “right-sized” living. A Flex House is estimated to cost you between $85,000 and $100,000.
“More than a tiny house, the Flex House represents a realistic alternative to today’s oversized homes. A solution that could work for any number of customers from young Millennial families to empty nesters,” its website says.
