How many times do you visit the Dollar Tree store? Addicting, isn’t it? The choices are many, but the prices are cheap.
Combine that with talent, and then you got yourself DIY projects that are not only gorgeous but super cheap.
Tina Did It is one of the many YouTube channels that love to feature DIY projects from materials bought from Dollar Tree, and they are great projects.
Outdoor lighting is a perfect example.
This DIY Dollar tree outdoor light looks like it was bought from a high-end store.
At first, it looks like those pathway lights that go for about $30 per piece, but as you watch the video, you will see that one lamp only cost Tina around $11.
Since the lamp is solar-powered, you don’t need batteries for it.
It’s perfect for hanging or sitting.

Here’s how to make it:
Materials
- 4 pcs Elegant Grooved Black Plastic Photo Frames, 5×7 in.
- Garden Collection Hanging Wire Baskets, 10 in.
- Cooking Concepts Splatter Screens, 11.25 in.
- Garden Collection Black Textured Solar Stake Lights, 14×2.25 in.
- PVC Clear Bath Mat, 25×13 in.
- Decorative Artificial Acrylic Gemstones, 3.45 oz. Bags
- E6000 glue
- Glue gun
Here are the easy steps on how you could turn photo frames into a gorgeous outdoor lamp.
Step 1. Get your photo frames and remove the glass and the clamps. You won’t be needing them, but it’s better to save them for later.
You might need to use it for another DIY project. Also, for the clamps, you can easily remove them using pliers or by hand. Do this on all four frames.
Step 2. Using your photo frame, trace and cut out the part of the bath mat to fill in the frame. Glue it to the frame, but make sure that the dip faces out.
Use your glue gun for this. Do this to all four frames.
Step 3. Once fully dry, get your acrylic gems and use your E6000 to stick them on the dip of the bath mat.
Tina preferred this glue because this was the only one that worked. Allow to completely dry.
Step 4. It’s time to assemble the lamp. Again, using E6000, connect all four frames and use any support available. Allow to dry completely.
Take note that this may take a while, so be patient.
Step 5. For the solar light, you’ll need to cut the splatter screen the same size as the lamp.
Step 6. Take your solar lamp, remove the plastic stick, and you will be left with the main solar light. Connect the lamp and the screen by sliding it through.
Step 7. Using your glue gun, attach the screen and frame.
Step 8. Lastly, remove the chain from the hanging basket and put it on your lamp. That’s it.
You can skip this step if you will put the lamp on the floor or on any flat surface. Looks so nice, right?
