M.A.Di. stands for ‘modulo abitativo dispiegabile,’ which translates to ‘unoccupied housing module’ in English. MADi is an Italian company that is revolutionizing the way people think about their homes. They design buildings that are earthquake-resistant and can be used for residential use, construction of “villages” for sporting events or natural disasters, and more.
MADi’s structures are unique because they are customizable, transportable, and have zero environmental impact.
Their buildings do not consume any territory because they don’t require a foundation. They can also be “packed up” and transferred to another location, or stored in a warehouse facility. According to their website, they are “the only truly removable, recoverable and 100% reusable [structures] that are installed without defacing the environment but simply entering into symbiosis with it.”
Their structures range in cost between $33,000 and $73,000 depending on the size which can range between 290 and 904-square-feet.
The MADi buildings can also go completely off-grid with solar panels, gray water systems, and LED lighting.
Their structures come folded flat. The smaller version of a MADi home can be assembled by three people in less than 6 hours.
As long as the surface is flat, the building can be placed anywhere. Each structure comes with a bathroom, kitchen connections, staircase, and technical features.
When fully assembled, you’d never guess that it could be deconstructed and moved to a new location.
Inside, the floor plan is sleek, modern, and open. Light colored walls make the space feel light and airy.
Customers could also opt for a wood paneled interior for a cozier, rustic feel.
The upstairs sleeping loft has the customized option of large skylights that are perfect for star gazing and letting in natural light.
MADi uses eco-friendly wood and other sustainable practices to make sure that their structures have the least amount of impact on the environment as possible.
