If you’re looking for a firm, hearty stitch— the granite stitch, also known as the moss stitch, is the way to go. This tutorial will make it super easy to create, even for those who are new to crocheting.
Here’s what you need and how you’ll get it done:
Materials
- Soft blend cotton yarn
- US-1, 5.5mm hook
Directions
1.) Start by crocheting a chain of an even number, this tutorial uses 14.
2.) Then skip your first three chains that are closest to the hook and single crochet the fourth one.
3.) Chain one. Then, skip the next chain and single crochet into the chain after that. Repeat this process until you get to the end of your row.
4.) To start your second row, you’ll want to chain two. Skip over the single crochet at the end and work a single crochet into the next one.
Chain one in the space in between the last two single crochets from the previous rows. Repeat this process until you get to the end of your row.
5.) When you come to the end of your second row, you’ll want to go in the space in between your chains and make a single crochet.
6.) To start row three, you’ll chain two and skip the first single crochet. Then single crochet in the chain space.
7.) Chain one and skip the next stitch. Then, single crochet in the chain space. Repeat this process until you get to the end of your row. Repeat the previous steps to build additional rows.
