  • Arm and Hammer Super Washing Soda
  • Pure Baking Soda
  • Oxi-Clean Stain Remover
  • Purex Crystals Laundry Enhancers
  • Fels-Naphtha Laundry Bar Soap

If you want to try another recipe or need to make your own fabric softener to go along with the laundry detergent, try these directions from Living On A Dime.

Ingredients:

  • 3 Cups of Hot Water
  • 1 ½ Cups of Vinegar
  • 1 Cup of Hair Conditioner

Directions:

  1. Make sure the water is hot enough to dissolve the conditioner. If it doesn’t dissolve, use a whisk to make it happen faster. Choose a conditioner that has a smell you like since it will provide the scent of the fabric softener.
  2. Add the vinegar and pour the mixture into a bottle.
  3. Use it how you would use any other fabric softener.

Sometimes, you need to remove the stains from your laundry before you can wash it.

You can buy stain remover from the store, or you can make your own that is more affordable and effective. Here’s the directions to make your own from Don’t Waste the Crumbs.

Ingredients:

  • 1 Tbsp Baking Soda
  • 4 Tbsp Thieves Dish Soap
  • 8 Tbsp Hydrogen Peroxide

Directions:

  1. Put everything into a jar or spray bottle.
  2. Mix it thoroughly by shaking it or stirring it.
  3. Spray or pour it on the stain and allow it to soak in for several minutes.
  4. Toss the laundry into the machine and wash as normal.
  5. Check the stain. If it has faded but can still be seen, treat it again before drying. Tough stains can be hard to remove.
