Babies all grown up? Now that your kids aren’t sleeping in cribs anymore, that giant wooden box seems like it’s practically useless (until the next baby, of course)… but fear not! Here are a couple ingenious ways to repurpose your old crib into some gorgeous furniture for all around the house.

Now that your little tot is (slightly) more grown up now, why not turn her old cot into something she can use? By removing one of the crib’s sides, adjusting the base, and fitting in a table-top, you have a perfect children’s craft center. You can also paint the top with blackboard paint so that your kids can use it as a chalkboard, and add removable hooks and suction cups to hang things like scissors!

CHALKBOARD EASEL:

With just the footboard and the headboard of a crib, you can create a classy and vintage easel for any occasion. Just fix up the boards — sandpaper them down, clean them, repaint them, add chalkboard paint — hinge them together, and viola! You have yourself a beautiful easel to put messages on for the rest of your family (or for any storefront looking for a little bit of charm).

You can turn a crib wall into a rack for magazines rather easily. It’s home improvement made simple!

In the same vein, add hooks to one of the crib racks to hang our pots, pans, and knives. Cribs are useful for adults, too!

Hang a wall of crib bars on the wall and you have a new way to organize your art supplies! You can place thread or other tools on nails attached to the rack.

BENCH:

Doesn’t this look professionally done? Add legs, lacquer the wood, paint it a classic modern color and you have yourself a fully functional bench. Little touches like decorative moulding will make your guests jump out of their seats when they learn that the bench they’re sitting on used to be a crib!

Take one wall out of a crib and turn it into a shelf. BAM! You have a nice little storage unit for anything you could possibly want.

Now that your kids can walk and talk, they might want something to roll around in when they’re wandering your backyard. By cutting up the side panels and putting it all together on top of some pivoting wheels, you can create a fun, safe, and mobile wagon for your kids to play in.

Furniture can be extremely expensive… unless you do it yourself. Just remove one of the side panels, repaint it all, add decorative flourishes, and you have yourself a nice couch/ottoman-type furniture for your veranda. You can save so much money by reusing what you already have!
