I Compared the Slip vs. Dosaze Silk Pillowcase – I’ll Never Sleep on One.
I Tried the Slip vs Dosaze Pillowcase. Here's what happened.

Slip is most famous for its silk pillowcases, but does that mean they are the best? I wanted to look into some of these claims and see how they held up against some of the competitors.

Why?

There is a lot of talk about who makes the best silk pillowcases, and from my research, Slip and Dosaze are both in the running for the most popular. Before I settled on something that I was going to sleep on for the next few years, I wanted to do some serious research and learn what I could about both of them. Then, I went ahead and compared them to help anyone else who struggles with hair health, breakage, or acne, just like me.

I read hundreds of reviews of both pillowcases, ordered multiple units of each, and spent 3 months sleeping on them. Here’s what I discovered.

The Short Answer

If you want a short answer, the winner after months of testing was the Dosaze 100% Silk Pillowcase. I liked how, overall, it offered more value for what I got, plus some added benefits and features (specifically with its anti-microbial silver treatment). Also, I found the silk was a little softer in the end product, while the Slip felt a little more plasticky because they do a partial treatment at the end that doesn’t exactly feel luxury.

The Bottom Line

The Dosaze Silk Pillowcase is by far my favorite silk pillowcase that I tested – it has all of the properties of a high-quality silk pillowcase that you love and need (absorbs less creams so your product stays on your face, reduces friction on your hair, and reduces friction on your skin so it reduces wrinkling and creases), but has the added benefit of the silver, which is antimicrobial (and so combats acne and other breakouts). This pillowcase essentially offers the best of both worlds (think blissy/slip + silvon). And to top it off, it is reasonably priced for a silk pillowcase as well.

Features:

  • 60-night sleep trial
  • First-time discount
  • 3-year warranty
  • Free shipping
  • Hidden zipper closure
  • High thread count
  • Cooling
  • Hypoallergenic
  • Good for skin & hair
  • Silver infused fabric

UPDATE (8 months later!): I’ve been sleeping on the Dosaze 100% Mulberry Pillowcase for 8 months now, and it is still the best one. I’m super satisfied with the overall quality and durability of this pillowcase. This has been the best investment for me in terms of improving my hair and skin!

Ultimately, the decision was made due to a few important factors:

  • Price
  • Materials/Quality
  • Customer service
  • Value

Here’s an in-depth review of how they stacked up against one another in each category:

In-Depth Review

Price – Tie

Price isn’t everything when it comes to making a purchase, but it certainly plays a role. Thankfully, there isn’t too much of a difference between Slip and Dosaze. For a queen-sized pillowcase, the Slip and Dosaze cost $90. Again, this isn’t a major difference, but if you are buying more than one, it could certainly be something to consider. That being said, the Dosaze pillowcase does take this category, albeit only slightly.

Customer Service – Big Winner, Dosaze

Customer service is arguably as important as the product itself. If you plan on buying a product for a long time, it’s important that the company has great reviews, great customer service, and a great policy when it comes to defects, issues, and warranties.

The Slip offers returns within 60 days of the initial purchase, but if the pillowcase is used, they claim that you may not get a full refund. On the other side of the aisle, Dosaze offers a 60-Night Sleep Trial that blows Slip out of the water. Also, all of Dosaze’s products have a 3-year warranty. Because of these two major differences, Dosaze wins.

Materials – Slight Winner, Dosaze (Silver Treatment)

When it comes to silk, materials are quite important. Think about you, this is where your FACE is going to be resting for eight ours each night! Thankfully, both the Slip and Dosaze use great materials. Both pillowcases use 100% 22-Momme 6A Grade Mulberry Silk. Mulberry silk is a type of silk that comes from a specific tree. Mulberry is known for its quality, so it’s a good thing to see. Also, the quality of the silk itself is 6A Grade, 22-Momme. This means that the silk grading itself is checked thoroughly. The best is used (6A Grade), and it has substantial weight to it, similar to threat count (22-Momme).

That being said, Dosaze uses a silver treatment on their silk, which basically powers it up with silver ions. As sci-fi as this sounds, it’s the same thing they do for medical bandages since it creates an anti-microbial environment. This means that the Dosaze gets rid of acne and odor-causing bacteria, and is also just cleaner.

Value – Slight Winner, Dosaze

Our value category is essentially Quality+Features/cost = Value.

Well, it seems pretty cut and dry here. With Dosaze, you get to spend the same, plus you get a silver-treated pillow and better customer service. As for value, Dosaze wins this head-to-head comparison.

Overall Winner: Dosaze 100% Silk Pillowcase

If you didn’t see this result coming, you probably didn’t read the article! Most of the time, my comparisons aren’t this much of a blowout. Seriously.

That being said, the Slip isn’t a bad pillowcase. I just think that you get a little more for a little less with Dosaze, so there’s really no reason to go with the Slip here instead.

At the end of the day, I would recommend the Dosaze 100% Silk Pillowcase to most people, most of the time!
