I love how this turns out.

Here’s a neat trick to impress your friends with. Go ahead and show this to the kids over the holidays too.

Grab a fork, needle and thread, and get ready to learn how to make a ribbon with it.

Just make sure the fork is clean and dry for obvious reasons.

Wrap the end of the ribbon around the body of the fork as shown, making sure the end goes around enough that you can press them down together and put the needle through.

Sew the ribbon together, using a scissors and lighter to snip and melt the edge of the thread.

Now loop the ribbon around the fork again, this time keeping the ribbon in between both loops. T

he trick is to wrap it around a finger then tighten it around the fork so now it’s a knot.

Do this ten times, but make sure they’re squeezed together on the fork.

Cut off the remaining free ribbon so you’ll be left with the wrapped and knotted part on the fork.

Use a lighter to sort of melt down the end of the ribbon on the fork so you can press it down on the body.

Grab that needle and thread and let it go through the part where you just cut off and sew it back up, ending with a few loops before cutting the thread off.

Flip the fork over, squeeze the wound up ribbon and slide the needle underneath until it comes out on the other end.

Loop the needle through and pull so it forms a knot that seals when you pull.

You’ll need a steady and smooth hand to be doing this technique, that’s for sure.

Pass that needle under and through again and do that same loop and pull and make sure it’s neat and tight.

You can now slide off the ribbon from the fork but do hold it gently but firmly since you’re not done with that needle and thread.

Pass the needle through and make another knot before slowly unfurling the ribbon in your hand.

Once you’ve pulled it open to reveal the shape, pinch the ends where the knot end of the threads meet.

Pass the needle in between them a few times and make another knot.

Be sure that it maintains its shape the entire time.

Follow the direction of the needle work as shown before going through the center of the ribbon.

This is where you can sew on the bead or anything you want to decorate the middle part.

Repeat this trick with different colored ribbons and a variety of beads to create multiple colored ones for decorating purposes.

It may take some practice and a few pricks of the finger but it’s a cool craft to learn and teach to the kids.

See, anyone can just go out and buy these but not a lot of people can boast of the fact that theirs are handmade.
