Two years ago, a YouTube video caught the attention of thousands of viewers.
According to the owner of the video, he purchased an abandoned home with an eerie vibe to it. He decided that he’ll restore and make it as beautiful as it was first built.
In his video description, he said that they abandoned the home by its original owner last 2010, and they had left all the taxes unpaid for many years.
After failed auctions and transactions, they reverted the house ownership to the county government in 2017.
For another year, the abandoned home sat on the unclaimed property list. So they listed it as surplus property.
He found the listing last 2019. He noted it and thought about purchasing it. After computing the total cost and expected ROI. He wasted no time and purchased the abandoned home for $5,166.16.
In his initial video, you’d get chills upon seeing the abandoned home.
Dry and tall bushes surrounded the old, worn-out residence. Even in daylight, you’d feel afraid to enter the property.
How do you restore a home like this?
The owner of the Rehab Life channel, along with his team, went inside to do some inspection and started tearing the old house down.
According to him, he has a full-time job, so he gets to work on weekends.
The first step that they did was to remove all the old appliances that were still inside.
Then, it was time to remove the old cabinets, drawers, and everything that needs to be cleared out.
Next was opening the entire house by removing doors and windows. It was the start of all the hard work.
It was important to let air and sunlight inside for them to get started.
They started with the floor, and in one clip, we even see the owner fall down on one of the broken floors.
This didn’t stop them from renovating the house.
Fast forward, they had rebuilt the foundation, and porch area, and installed walls, ceiling, and floor as well.
It was so satisfying and admirable to see how much work was being done, and slowly, you see how much change they have made.
They chose white paint, and it made an exceptional makeover to the house. You won’t even believe how it looked before.
The owner said he had help but didn’t record them. However, he also made sure that he did the work that he could.
There were clips of him fixing the tiles, bathtub, vent, cabinets, floors, and so much more.
His skills were so impressive.
Soon, he said the old abandoned residence, which looked like the houses from horror haunted films, had turned into a beautiful home, ready to be occupied.
His YouTube channel comprised small videos detailing his one-year journey for renovating this home but compiled it into one video, which you can watch below.
After a year, he made a sad update. According to the owner, the tenants who had lived for a year left the home damaged.
And, as you’ve guessed, he has renovated the home again.
