Do you have a pallet stored in your garage, or maybe you have lots of them and you’re really not using them?
Don’t worry because, with one wooden pallet, you can make a gorgeous coffee table that could sell for up to $500.
Does it sound too good to be true? Well, it is true.
Cameron, a Dutch artist and the owner of the YouTube channel The Bizarre Workshop, posted a DIY video of his whole process.
He took one old and worn-out wooden pallet and transformed it into something that you’d see in a furniture showroom.
The first thing that Cameron did was he took the wooden pallet and then carefully disassembled it.
This was one of the most tedious parts of the project and one of the most dangerous ones too. Look at all those rusty nails!
He then trimmed the wood into half an inch and then cut each one in half.
After he was done with all the wood and they were looking new, he tested for moisture first and it gave a 9% reading.
Why do you think this step is very important?
It’s essential that wood has the right amount of moisture, as it can cause the wood to shrink and then expand. If you don’t check it, you might encounter future problems with your project.
Since that was all cleared, he applied wood glue to each one, and using clamps, he secured them together.
After some time, he removed the clamp and you can finally see where he is going from here. The pieces of wood that had been glued now looks like a table, but it still needed lots of sanding.
Cameron also trimmed all the sides.
After that, using P-Tec 8400, he filled the gaps in the wood and allowed it to settle.
He proceeded to sand the table again until it was smooth.
Cameron then applied varnish and allowed it to dry. For this particular coffee table, he used clear varnish.
While waiting for the table to dry completely, he assembled the coffee table legs.
He chose to use steel rods that had been soldered close to each other and secured by a piece of the steel frame.
Choosing table legs out of steel, creating a sleek and contrasting look that worked great.
The table would look great in a bachelor’s pad.
According to him, he was able to sell the table for $500, and comments poured in asking what steps he took.
Someone also asked him about creating a voice-over, but he did explain that he’s a deaf artist.
What we love about his style is that his DIY videos are never boring. He has found many ways to entertain and insert adorable antics throughout the video.
Did you find that tiny hand cute and funny?
Remember, if you use your skills and your imagination, you’d find ways to convert your old stuff into something new, in style, and useful.
